"Horton Hears A Who"
at www.wildaboutmovies.com
While "Horton Hears A Who" captured the #1 spot at the North American movie box office this weekend, overall, it was Madea and "Meet The Browns" that stole the #1 spot at the movie box office, for per screen average.
"Horton Hears A Who" grabbed $25 million on nearly 4000 movie screens. However, "Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns" featuring Madea, sucked in $20 million in just over 2000 theaters, mostly in urban areas - the theaters filled, like pews on Easter Sunday, with a loyal and almost exclusively black audience.
Both "Shutter" and "Drillbit Taylor," the other two new movies in wide release this weekend, managed $10 million each.
"Under the Same Moon," which many of you saw for free, courtesy of WAM and Fox Searchlight, took the #10 spot at the movie box office, even in only 269 movie theaters across the nation. There are still Free Screenings of "Under the Same Moon," to which you can print passes.
