"May 9-11, 2008 Movie Box Office"
"Iron Man" #1 - Second Week In A Row
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Iron Man 2

For the complete weekend movie box office report - just look below. To watch the corresponding movie trailer or check out the corresponding movie poster, click on any link.

"Iron Man" - the best reviewed movie, thus far, of 2008, is also the highest grossing movie of 2008 - as of May 11, 2008. (That will change - as "Indiana Jones 4" will undoubtedly take the #1 spot at the movie box office for the year 2008.) In its second weekend in movie theaters, "Iron Man" grabbed $50 million, half of last weekend's $100 million take.

As for the remainder of this weekend's movie box office report? Pretty dismal, especially for The Wachowski Brothers first non-"Matrix" movie since 1996's "Bound," - that lesbo thriller starring Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly. The Wachowski Brothers' "Speed Racer" came in at #3, below the #2 and the little promoted, and low expectation (by 20th Century Fox standards), "What Happens In Vegas," that stars punker Ashton Kutcher, and saccharine sweet Cameron Diaz.

Below, the Top 25 Movies at the Box Office May 9-11, 2008

* Warner Bros, cooked their books, lying on Sunday, alleging "Speed Racer" was the #2 movie of the week, with just over $200,000 more than "What Happens In Vegas." As it turns out, after box office receipts were tallied officially, by third party sources, "Speed Racer" was not only the #3 movie of the weekend - a huge embarassment for WB, since the movie cost over $300 million to make and market - but took in just over $18 million; not nearly anywhere what they orginally claimed. Look for "Speed Racer" to drop faster than a hot potato from a baby's hand, next weekend, when "Narnia 2" hits movie theaters. "Speed Racer" will be lucky to take in a total of $50 million at the North American movie box office, when all is said and done.
