"Max Payne" #1
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

Fox Searchlight is happy this weekend. Their "The Secret Life Of Bees," which thousands of Wild About Movies visitors saw for free earlier this week, nationwide, opened in 1591 theaters but grabbed over $11 million at the movie box office Friday, tying "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" for the #2 spot at the movie box office. The widest release, "Max Payne," starring Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg, claimed the #1 spot at the movie box office ($18 million), because, simply, it's in the most number of movie theaters; 3376. The Summit Entertainment raunchy teen comedy "Sex Drive" plowed into 2421 movie theaters, but crashed and died on impact. We're not sure if Summit's decision to release the First Ten Minutes of "Sex Drive" online hurt or helped. The film grabbed less than $3.5 million its first three days in theaters. (Wild About Movies is betting the house that "Twilight," the next Summit movie in theaters, bombs, as well. Vampire movies never do well at the movies. And the film will only make money its first day in theaters, with "Twilight" devotees lining up to see the cast of unknowns eat each other's blood). Lionsgate's "W," based on the life of lame duck United States president George W. Bush, crept into 2030 movie theaters, stealing just over $10.5 million for the #3 slot at the movie box office this weekend. For the complete weekend movie box office report, feast your eyes below...
