"Oscar Trivia: Day 14"
"Actors Nominated for an Acting Oscar 3 Consecutive Years Or MORE"
by Tim Nasson
January 24, 2008

"Oscar Trivia" Main Page

Gladiator Movie PosterThought Nicole Kidman was the last actress to be nominated for 3 Consecutive acting Oscars? Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. In fact, while Nicole Kidman won the Best Actress Oscar for her role as Virginia Wolf in "The Hours," and was nominated the year before, for "Moulin Rouge," she has not - yet - received a third Oscar nomination. No. Her role in "Cold Mountain," in which she starred opposite Renee Zellweger (who did win the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for that film), was not nominated.

Have fun with your colleagues. See if they know not only which actors and actresses made the cut - but for which movie they won the Oscar for, if any. We all know Glenn Close is on the list below, and has a total of five Oscar nominations, but has yet to win an Oscar.

Also, Russell Crowe, while nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his role as the "Gladiator," did not win the Oscar for that movie. Which movie did he win the Best Actor Oscar for - the next year?

Below, the complete list of all actors and actresses who have been nominated three consecutive years - or more - for an acting Oscar.
