In the 80 years of Oscar history, (and, yes, we know that the 80th year is this year and that the "2008 Oscar Nominations" won't be announced until Tueday 22 January - but bet our website on the fact their won't be three nominees in any one acting category this year), only five times - five movies, that is - has there been an acting category where three actors from the same film have been nominated for the SAME acting Oscar.

And only once, Robert DeNiro, for "The Godfather Part II," has an actor WON the Oscar in said scenario.

1935 (8th Oscars) Best Actor Nominees -- Clark Gable, Charles Laughton, Franchot Tone; Mutiny on the Bounty

1954 (27th Oscars) Best Supporting Actor Nominees -- Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden, Rod Steiger; On the Waterfront

1963 (36th Oscars) Best Supporting Actress Nominees -- Diane Cilento, Dame Edith Evans, Joyce Redman; Tom Jones
