The About face: A new Taylor arrives on the big screen, Taylor Kitsch, in Disney's big screen adaptation of the novel John Carter Of Mars.
The Wild side: The movie John Carter tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
The film is a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars).
The Movie facts:
The movie was originally entitled "John Carter Of Mars," which is the name of the the novel from which it is adapted.
However, since Disney's Mars Needs Moms was a total bust at the 2011 movie box office, the studio axed the word Mars from the movie's title.
From Academy Award-winning animated film director, Andrew Stanton, (Wall-E, Finding Nemo, Toy Story 3 and Monsters Inc. 2), comes John Carter, his fist feature film.
