The Movie fact: Tom Cruise, who produced the Jack Reacher movie, cast himself in the role. There are seventeen novels featuring Jack Reacher, from author Lee Child. Jack Reacher is 6 feet, 5 inches tall, a full one foot taller than Tom Cruise is in real life. Saying that Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher is a stretch, pun intended, is an understatement. If Tom Cruise had not produced the movie (put up most of the money himself, and believed in himself so much) there is no way he would have been cast in the role. There is an outcry from Jack Reacher fans worldwide - Tom Cruise is no Jack Reacher, no matter how much CGI is employed.

Excerpt from A Wanted Man, the latest Jack Reacher novel, (released in book stores September 2012): "He was the largest man she had ever seen outside of the NFL. He was extremely tall (6', 5") and extremely broad (250lbs), and long-armed and long-legged. His neck was thick and his hands were the size of dinner plates."
