Annie release date December 19, 2014
Watch the trailer from the new Annie movie.
In this unnecessary remake of the classic movie (and Tony winning Broadway production) Daddy Warbucks is now a wealthy, negro businessman, Benjamin Stacks, (played by Jamie Foxx), who comes to the aid of a young girl living in an orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan.
A remake, albeit with a black actress, of the 1982 movie of the same name, which was based on the Tony winning Broadway musical of the same name.
Polictical correctness has gone a little too far with the remake of Annie turning into a nearly all-'black' production.
First and foremost, the movie does not need to be remade.
While she may not be a cunt, as the spoof website The Onion called her just before the 2013 Oscar ceremony, Quvagina Wallis, or whatever her name is, is hardly what one would expect to play little orphanesse Annie.
Daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, Willow, was originally going to play Annie in the big screen remake, but she got smart and told mommy and daddy she was done with making movies.
Will Smith remains a producer on the big screen Annie remake, along with Jaz-Z.
UPDATE: Oscar winner
Sandra Bullock has signed to star as the evil Miss Hannigan, who was portrayed by Carol Burnett in the original Annie movie. She, Sandy, thank god, dropped out.
Now we have Cameron Diaz, a has been who never was, as the evil Miss Hannigan, in what will quite possibly will be the most unbelieveable role in the history of movies. (As far as the trailer for the new Annie movie goes, Cameron Diaz is the absolute worst thing in it. She does not come across as a bitch and scary, as did Carol Burnett, rather a dumb blonde).
Carol Burnett received a Best Actress Golden Globe nomination for her role as Miss Hannigan, as did the star of Annie, Aileen Quinn. Neither of the actresses went on to earn Oscar nominations for their roles, however. And it is almost certain that no one from the new Annie will receive Oscar nominations.
