Usually foreign movies are remade into American movies by Hollywood.
This time it is the other way around.
The 1992 Best Picture and Best Director Oscar winning movie, Unforgiven, by Clint Eastwood, has been remade by the Japanese.
Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai) stars in this Japanese Western remake, with the action now set in late 1800′s Hokkaido. A long retired samurai is drawn back into action by the combination of poverty and a large bounty, at a time when Japan largely abandons the old ways to adopt a more modern stance.
Released in Japan in theaters in 2013, the Unforgiven Japanese remake is tentatively scheduled for release in U.S. theaters Christmas 2014.
