Our money is on both Call My By Your Name and The Shape Of Water to each receive a plethora of 2018 Oscar nominations. While both movies couldn’t be more different than the other, they are also similar. Call Me By Your Name features a teenage boy (Timothee Chalamet) in love with a somewhat older man (Armie Hammer). They embark on a summer romance in the Italian countryside in the early 1980s.
The Shape Of Water tells the story of a monster (a literal deep sea monster) and a mute female janitor (Sally Hawkins) who fall in love during the beginning of the Cold War in the early 1960s.
What makes each film Oscar worthy are not only the spectacular performances by everyone in each movie, but the direction, cinematography, editing, original scores, screenplays and costumes, to name just a few.
It wouldn’t be surprising if both The Shape Of Water and Call My By Your Name each received eight or more 2018 Oscar nominations and each go on to become two of the biggest 2018 Oscar Winners.
