"American Idol Season 7
"American Idol 2008"
DAVID COOK - WINNER
May 21, 2008

Ryan Seacrest, or Ryan Shecrest, as Kathy Griffin calls the allegedly gay (um, just watch him 'ogle every HOT male contestant') "American Idol" host, returns for his seventh year.
"American Idol Season 7" debuted on the Fox Network January 15, 2008.
Contestants for "American Idol Season 7" were required to be between the ages 16 and 28 on or before July 28, 2007 and eligible to work in the United States.
Ineligible: Any former "American Idol" contestants (those who actually made the cut); anyone, male or female who reached the Billboard Top 40 in any time of their life; anyone holding recording or management contracts; anyone who is not a US citizen or illegal immigrants. It has also been announced that "American Idol 2008" contestants will be able to play instruments, which is also allowed on "Australian Idol" where it originated and on "Canadian Idol." Also, according to executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, the number of mentors will be cut way back. "American Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has also expressed an interest in doing an "American Idol All Star show," featuring all 7 winners, which will air in late 2008. With the WGA strike continuing, and no new episodes of any scripted television shows on the horizon until at least September 2008, suffice it to say that "American Idol 2008" will clean up each and every week in the television Nielsen ratings and reign supreme as the most watched season of "American Idol" in "American Idol" history.
OK... So?
