Wild About Movies was live at the "2007 Oscars" and brought you, in real time, beginning at 8:30 PM (EST) all of the "2007 Oscar Winners." The "2007 Academy Award Nominations" were announced January 23, 2007 and there were some surprises, both in "2007 Academy Award Nominees" and in blatant omissions from the "2007 Oscar Nominees" list.

Why on earth was Pedro Almodovar's "Volver" passed over for a Best Foreign Film Oscar nomination?

And the Dixie Chicks swept the 2007 Grammys but their "Shut Up & Sing" wasn't even nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar! Although, We're pretty damn sure that George W. and all the other fuck-ups in the current White House administration are boiling since Al Gore won the Best Documentary Oscar for his "An Inconvenient Truth."

The only complete surprise to most (not us) was that Alan Arkin beat Eddie Murphy in the Best Supporting Actor category. (We predicted over a week ago that Arkin would walk away with the golden statuette. However, we also thought that 8 time Oscar nominee - and 8 time Oscar loser, Peter O'Toole, would get a sympathy Oscar - he does look like he's on death's doorstep - for his vulgar role in "Venus."

Perhaps the crotchety old Oscar voters thought one dirty old man, Alan Arkin, for his character, was enough for one year!

In the grid below, Wild About Movies predicted (two weeks ago) who we thought would walk away as "2007 Oscar Winners" in each major category.

The "2007 Oscar Winners" were be broadcast live on ABC, February 25, 2007 at 8:00 PM (EST) and the "2007 Oscar Winners" were brought to you in real time, right here at Wild About Movies. Our "2007 Oscars" page was updated minute by minute, replete with commentary on the shocking wins and losses!

Oh! Which movies does Wild About Movies think will win the most prestigious Oscars; "2007 Best Picture Oscar" and the "2007 Best Director Oscar"... The "2007 Best Director Oscar" will go to Martin Scorsese, finally, for his sixth Best Director Oscar nomination for "The Departed." And, like last year, when "Crash" stole the Best Picture Oscar from "Brokeback Mountain," the "2007 Best Picture Oscar" will be an upset, not going to "The Departed," rather to "Little Miss Sunshine."
