"January 4-6, 2008 Movie Box Office"
"National Treasure 2" #1 (3rd Week In Row)
at www.wildaboutmovies.com

National Treasure 2 Poster

In a not so surprising turn of events, "National Treasure 2" took the #1 spot at the movie box office for its third consecutive weekend. The only new release in theaters, "One Missed Call," came in at #3, (after a three way tie for the #2 spot), with an unlucky $13 million.

The biggest surprise of December - and, now January 2008 - is that the critically panned "Alvin And The Chipmunks," a movie even its studio, 20th Century Fox, wrote off before its release, continues to remain in the Top 2 at the box office, this weekend tieing for #2, taking in over $16 million, and over $175 million in less than four weeks.

As of this weekend, three movies in the Top 2 at the movie box office, (yes, since there is a three way tie for #2 this weekend), which were released in December 2007 have already or will end up grossing over $200 million, when all is said and done. "National Treasure 2," "I Am Legend" and "Alvin And the Chipmunks."

Potential "2008 Oscar Winners" and "2008 Golden Globe Winners" such as "Sweeney Todd," "Charlie Wilson's War," "The Great Debaters," "Walk Hard," "The Kite Runner" and "No Country For Old Men," continue to take a tumble at the box office.

The only "2008 Oscar Candidates" making strides at the box office: "Juno," "Atonement" and "There Will Be Blood."

"The Bucket List," which will most likely NOT be a "2008 Oscar Winning" candidate goes into wide release January 11th and we expect it to take the #2 or #3 spot at the box office - even with its dreadful movie reviews. Everyone loves Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and to see them together - who gives a rat's ass how hokey the story is? The movie is a must see.
