"Peter Jackson's KING KONG" Is Long (Get the Big Popcorn) November 4, 2005 Peter Jackson's "King Kong," will be coming in at quite the impressive running time. Just over three hours. One shouldn't have expected anything less from the acclaimed director, whose three "Lord of the Rings" films each ran over three hours. The original "King Kong" was only 90 minutes. Universal, who is releasing the new Kong, needs a hit. Their only success, to date, this year is "The 40 Year Old Virgin." The giant ape conquers theaters December 14th.
Crazy for Kong?
Wild About Movies highly recommends the King Kong Collector's Edition DVD (Fay Wray, 1933). It's one of the greatest adventure films of all time, which even in an era of computer-generated wizardry remains a marvel of stop-motion animation. This must see film is what made Fay Wray a household name, still today, even after 70 years.
