Meryl Streep: How Well Do You Know Her? by Tim Nasson
January 8, 2008
You already know that Meryl Streep is the most honored actor in the history of the Oscars, with fourteen nominations – eclipsing Katherine Hepburn’s twelve. (Yes, Hepburn was nominated for twelve and won four, her last at age seventy-five for "On Golden Pond," and Streep has only won two, thus far). But Streep is only fifty-seven. She has at least twenty-five years of acting to go. Remember, Jessica Tandy didn’t win her first and only Oscar until she was eighty-one, for “Driving Miss Daisy.” There are great roles for women of all ages, albeit few and far between for women over sixty.
But how well do you know Meryl Streep?
