"Enchanted" #1

Enchanted Poster"Walt Disney's Enchanted," starring Oscar nominee Amy Adams ("Junebug"), debuted at #1. Between Wednesday and Sunday, "Enchanted" grabbed $50 million from audiences, nationwide. "This Christmas," a black family's take on the international Christian holiday, outdid all other new films, (and last week's #1 movie "Beowulf"), coming in at #2, with $27 million during its first five days in theaters. "Hitman" earned $21 million in the same time frame giving it the bragging rights to #4, with "Beowulf" coming in at #3. "No Country For Old Men," a movie destined for "2008 Oscar nominations" - Best Picture, Director, Actor and Cinematography, to name just a few, on Wednesday through Friday, its first five days in semiwide release, grossed $11 million. The remaining new slew of films in theaters this week? All Box Office Bombs, including the third pairing of director Frank Darabont ("The Green Mile" and "The Shawshank Redemption") and a Stephen King novella, "The Mist," "Christmas In Wonderland," "August Rush," and the independent films "I'm Not There;" "Starting Out In The Evening" and "Nina's Heavenly Delights."
