"Local Color" is based on a true story.
A successful artist looks back with loving memories on the summer of his defining year, 1974. A talented, but troubled eighteen year old art student befriends an elderly alcoholic genius painter who has turned his back on not only art, but life. The two form, what appears to be at first a tenuous relationship. The kid wants to learn all the secrets the master has locked away inside his head and heart. Time has not been kind to the old master. His life appears pointless to him until the kid rekindles his interest in his work and ultimately gives him the will to live. Together, they give one another a priceless gift. The kid learns to see the world through the master's eyes. And the master learns to see life through the eyes of innocence again.

A Letter From Julie Gallo - Director George Gallo's wife - About "Local Color"
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share the "Local Color" trailer that we have posted on YouTube and ask you to visit the site and perhaps post a comment. For those of you who don't know the backstory in the making of this film, it is a film that we made based on events that happened in my husband George's life when he was 18 and searching for meaning.
With no support from the studio system, as well as independent money to finance the film, we decided that we so believed in putting this beautiful, inspirational story out there, that we mortgaged our home to make it. Our producing partner also mortgaged his home and the rest of the money was raised through friends and family. What we are aiming for is to have a great opening weekend in Scottsdale, Arizona, where we are debuting the film on October 19th, in anticipation of opening wider at the beginning of next year. So for those of you who believe that in an age of cynicism such as we are presently experiencing, it is necessary for us all to put "good positive messages" out into the world, please share this email with anyone and everyone you think would be interested.
Please help get behind our film. We thank you for your time and support.
Much love,
Julie Gallo
