"Top 30 Movies At 2007 (North American) Movie Box Office"
"Spiderman 3" #1
2007 - Year Of The Threequel

March 19, 2008

Spiderman-3-Movie-Poster

The Top 30 Movies at the 2007 Box Office were, to say the least, a mixed bag. Four movies released in 2007 made their way over the $300 million threshhold - all threequels or impending threequels; "Spiderman 3," "Transformers The Movie," (two more are in the pipeline), "Shrek 3," and "Pirates of the Caribbean 3." (Additional threequels of 2007, each closing above $100 million; "Ocean's 13," "Bourne Ultimatum," and "Rush Hour 3"). None, however, crossed the $400 million mark - even with skyrocketing movie ticket prices. The highest grossing movie, in U.S. dollars, to date, remains "Titanic." And that was released 11 years ago. "Titanic" grossed over $600 million and the closest any movie has come since - "Shrek 2," with $442 million. All in all, 2007 produced nearly 30 movies that earned over $100 million. Two even starred Nicolas Cage. And two starred John Travolta. (One in which he was in drag - "Hairspray The Movie" - and for which he may earn a "2008 Oscar Nomination" and the other, "Wild Hogs," in which he plays a biker). Will Will Smith's "I Am Legend" end up becoming the fifth movie released in 2007 to take in over $300 million at the box office? Right now, take a look at the movie trailers, movie posters and box office results of the "Top 30 Grossing Movies at the 2007 Movie Box Office."

Will this year's, the 2008 movie release, "Indiana Jones 4," eclipse the all-time movie box office record of "Titanic?" It is doubful. (Check out the complete "2008 Movies" list, and predict your own winner).

Back to the year 2007 at the Movie Box Office.

We know which movies garnered a spot in the Top 30 Movies at the 2007 Movie Box Office.

But, since "I Am Legend," "National Treasure 2," "Alvin And The Chimpmunks," "American Gangster" and "Enchanted," all released in November or December 2007, are still in wide release, and continuing to gross millions of dollars per day, the final numbers will not be available for at least another six weeks.

And, keep in mind, the movie most, including Wild About Movies, thought would be the first of 2007 to cross the $100 million mark, "Norbit," failed to reach the point.

If you're wondering what movie in the Top 30 at the 2007 Box Office is WAM's favorite? - Well, you can always check out The Wild About Movies Top 10 Movie List, of which the #1 movie is not one of the Top 30 Box Office Hits - or, we can just tell you... "The Bourne Ultimatum."
