"Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time" - Originally scheduled for a Summer 2009 big screen release, (opposite "Transformers 2"), the Disney movie "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" is currently scheduled for a Memorial Day Weekend 2010 theatrical release, opposite "Shrek 4." Word is that Disney backed off a full year, choosing "Shrek" as the lesser of two evils to go against at the summer movie box office. And with "Transformers" record breaking $200 million plus first five days we think they may have made a wise decision.

"Prince of Pesia," the popular video-game series of the same name, gets adapted for the big screen in this sweeping fantasy adventure starring Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal ("Brokeback Mountain") and Gemma Arterton.

The setting for the movie "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" is sixth century Persia. A nefarious nobleman covets the Sands of Time, a legendary gift from the gods that allows its possessor to turn back time. Whoever owns the Sands of Time has the power to rule the world, and this villainous lord would use that power to enslave all of humanity. The only person capable of defeating this tyrant and saving the world is Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), a youthful prince. Now, with plucky princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) by his side, Dastan will attempt to prevent the Sands of Time from falling into the wrong hands.

Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley ("Gandhi," "Shutter Island" and "Elegy") costars.
