Dreamgirls

Dreamgirls Release Date: December 15, 2006

We love the tagline under the title: “All You Have To Do Is Dream!”

Paramount could only Dream that their overhyped disaster would have been nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor (Jamie Foxx) and Best Actress (Beyonce). While the film does have the most Oscar nominations this year, eight, it has no major nominations. They are all technical nominations, save for the two token black Oscar nominations the film received for the supporting characters, Eddie Murphy, who has no chance of winning and Jennifer Hudson, a non actress, American Idol loser. Even if Hudson wins, which we think she won’t, her career is over. What other role could a fat, non actress black girl ever inhabit in the future. Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence, as well as Tyler Perry have had a corner on those roles for years!
