Spiral: From the Book of Saw a reboot of the Saw franchise that began in 2004, Saw, which was directed by James Wan.
A new Saw film was released every year thereafter through 2010, with Saw 3D being the final film in the original franchise.
The reboot is produced by and stars Chris Rock and features Samuel L. Jackson.
Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV, directed the film.
Originally scheduled for release on May 15, 2020, the film was put on the shelf due to Wuhan coronavirus and all movie theaters in the world being closed. Its new, tentative, release date is May 21, 2021.
