Amy Pascal and Sony Pictures are putting together some Oscar favorites for the latest adaption to Louisa May Alcott’s beloved classic novel, Little Women. Greta Gerwig, who received critical acclaim for her directorial debut feature, Lady Bird, including an Oscar nomintation for Best Picture and Directing, is adapting and directing Little Women. Oscar winners Meryl Streep and Emma Stone along with Lady Bird star Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh are starring.

Little Women revolves around the March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, on their journey to womanhood, guided by their Marmee. The novel, which is loosely based on Alcott and her three sisters lives as kids, has gone through numerous adaptations.

George Cuckor directed the first big screen adaptation in 1933, which featured Katherine Hepburn in the lead role.

Another version appeared in theaters in 1949 starring June Allyson, Peter Lawford and Margaret O’Brien.

The most popular version from the past 50 years arrived in theaters in 1994 and featured Susan Sarandon, Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst and Christian Bale.
