Summer 2008 Movies - not quite the Summer of the Sequel. But hardly a summer lacking roman numerals following a movie's title.
The most anticipated sequel of 2008, summer or not, is "Indiana Jones 4." The third in the "Indiana Jones" movie franchise was released Summer 1989, two decades ago. And its hero, namesake, Indy, returns, twenty years later, in the same form - Harrison Ford.
Presumably, if there are any additional "Indiana Jones" movies, Shia LaBeouf, who plays the son of "Indiana" in "Indiana Jones 4," will headline. Especially since Harrison Ford is now sixty-six years old. (During filming of "Indiana Jones 3," Sean Connery, who played Indy's dad, was the ripe old age of 59, seven years shy of the age Harrison Ford is as "Indiana Jones" in "Indiana Jones 4.")
While "Indiana Jones 4," if it lives up to its Steven Spielberg / George Lucas hype, will undoubtedly be the #1 movie at the worldwide movie box office during 2008, that still leaves room for a plethora of "2008 Summer Sequels" to crack the Top 10 at the 2008 movie box office. Among them:
"Chronicles Of Narnia 2"

"The Dark Knight"

"Harold & Kumar 2"
"Hellboy 2"
"The Incredible Hulk"
"The Mummy 3"

Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2

"XFiles2"

Wild About Movies predicts that "2008 Summer Sequels" will rank in the following order at the movie box office, (for sequels released Summer 2008), when all is said and done:
1. "Indiana Jones 4"
2. "The Dark Knight"
3. "The Chronicles of Narnia 2: Prince Caspian"
4. "The Incredible Hulk"
5. "The Mummy 3"
6. "The X-Files 2"
7. "Hellboy 2"
8. "Harold & Kumar 2"
9. " Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"
In addition, fret not, if you are a "Harry Potter" fan. While not "2008 Summer Sequels," the following continuations will appear at your local multiplex sometime after Labor Day 2008 - and Daniel Radcliffe finally shows his family jewels - yes, Harry Potter naked - this side of the pond, on Broadway, beginning this fall:
"Bond 22"
"Harry Potter 6"
"High School Musical 3"
"Punisher 2"
"Saw 5"
