"Lesbian Vampire Killers" Movie Trailer Premiere

BAFTA winning comedy duo James Corden and Matthew Horne ("Gavin & Stacey") decide to escape their problems and head to Wales for a weekend of debauchery. Things don't go quite according to plans and they find themselves stranded in a village where all of the women have been enslaved by a legendary vampire curse. As the night unfolds, the boys have to put all of their fears (and dreams) behind them in order to rise to the challenge of becoming "Lesbian Vampire Killers." Summit Screws "Twilight" Director And Pockets $100 Million
UPDATE: "NEW MOON" DIRECTOR CHOSEN
December 9, 2008

Update: After dismissing "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke from the upcoming sequels, rumors abound that "The Golden Compass" director has been chosen to direct the next two "Twilight" sequels...
December 8, 2008 -
Rob Friedman's Summit Entertainment has chosen to replace "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke for their sequel "New Moon" - even after "Twilight" put over a $100 million profit in their pockets during its first 10 days in movie theaters.
If you didn't know, movie studios earn between 90 and 100% of a movie's box office take during its first ten days in domestic movie theaters. While most movies take in the majority of their box office gross the first two weekends in theaters, it is not usually 75% or more of the film's total box office gross.
Summit got lucky. During the first ten days of the domestic theatrical release of "Twilight," the studio earned over $100 million in profit from theaters.
Since Summit has nothing other than the "Twlight" sequel, "New Moon," in the works, (that will be a guaranteed movie box office success), they have dissed "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke and have chosen to NOT rehire her to direct "New Moon."
Even after Catherine Hardwicke delivered the biggest opening weekend ever for a woman director with "Twilight."
Says Summits head idiot in charge Eric Feig, "We as a studio have a mandate to bring the next installment in the franchise to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward, Bella and all of the characters that Stephenie Meyer has created. We are able to pursue an aggressive time frame as we have the luxury of only adapting the novels into screenplays as opposed to having to create a storyline from scratch."
Catherine Hardwicke wanted more than 12 months to shoot and edit the film "New Moon," which will require a lot more CGI effects and what she had hoped was a modestly higher budget. "Twilight" cost only $35 million to produce, but it looks as cheap as it was to make.
Eric Feig, with his statement about "New Moon," and the dismissal of Catherine Hardwick as director, clearly shows that Summit is thinking money over quality, i.e., money in their pockets, as fast as they can, so that their impending movie box office bombs, "Push," and "Knowing," among others, won't throw them into bankruptcy.
It's not unusual for studios who own movie franchises to hire different directors for different installments in the series'. Warner Bros. has used a handful of directors in the "Harry Potter" movie franchise. But the excuse Eric Feig uses for switching directors in midgame is laughable and outright sleazy.
Summit has a 'mandate to bring 'New Moon' to the big screen in a timely fashion so that fans can get more of Edward and Bella..."?????
Most "Harry Potter" movies have an 18 month window between them. In fact, the most recent, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" will hit theaters exactly TWO YEARS after the previous in the series, "Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix."
In fact, allowing fans to wait a little bit extra longer for a movie certainly makes them a little more interested and eager in wanting to see the sequel(s).
Imagine if there had been a new "Star Wars" every year. Or a new "Indiana Jones." Just look at the failure of the "Saw" movie franchise which has seen a new one hit theaters five years running, and a sixth scheduled for release in 2009.
"Saw 3," Saw 4" and "Saw 5" all saw precipitous drops at the movie box office from the "Saw 2" high in the series, with $87 million. "Saw 5," this year's incarnation in the franchise, was lucky to grab $56 million... (continue)

"Disney's Bolt" Bombs At Movie Box Office
November 24, 2008

The 1996 and 1997 animated Disney films "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame" and "Hercules" each accomplished $21 million opening weekends. Adjusting for inflation, however, "Bolt" is a much bigger bomb at the box office, with $27 million its freshman weekend in movie theaters. "Bolt" also opened in over 700 more theaters than both "Hunchback" and "Hercules" its opening weekend. And, unlike the latter two titles, "Bolt" was released in 3D. Are 3D movies ultimately headed for a second demise? They surely went out of style and died a fast death in the 1950s. Even Disney's animated "Lilo & Stitch," (forgot about that movie, or never heard of it, did you?), with not one A list movie star lending a voice, opened with a whopping $35 million in 2002. For more about the Walt Disney movie "Bolt 3D"... (continue)
"Astro Boy" Movie Poster & Movie Trailer Premieres
November 20, 2008

Summit Entertainment's Rob Friedman is betting his studio (and life) on tomorrow's "Twilight" being a worldwide movie box office smash. It certainly is not a critically acclaimed film. Just in case "Twilight" fails, up his sleeve he has "Astro Boy" - in theaters October 2009. Watch the "Astro Boy" movie trailer - whenever Summit Entertainment decides to get their site up and running - presumably before tomorrow's release of "Twilight"... (continue)

Like the original "Witch Mountain" movies, "Race To Witch Mountain" tells the story of a UFO expert who enlists the help of a cabbie to protect two siblings with paranormal powers from the clutches of an organization that wants to use the kids for their nefarious plans. November 14th – New York / New Jersey area - Garden State Plaza at One Garden State Plaza, Paramus
* We're not sure who set up the locations for the above schedule but suffice it to say, the "Boston" location, can't be more inaccessable for teenagers without a car, nor in a trashier area. The Square One Mall on RT 1 in Saugus, MA, is not within a five mile radius of any MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) subway stop - and is about 10 miles from downtown Boston. As mentioned, it's on (not off) a major highway, without access to foot traffic. And lastly, the girls who do get dropped off their by their parents will not be of the purest breed. After Revere, MA, Saugus, MA is quite possibly the most unattractive city near Boston.
"Star Trek 11 Trailer" - On The Lot Reaction
November 7, 2008

Paramount employees were able to sneak preview the "Star Trek 11" trailer today on the lot for the first time and this is what they saw:
"The film is going to be big. It looks incredible and feels contemporary. It feels NEW! That's very important when you're kickstarting a franchise from last century. The cast looks just right and it's high on cool special effects and action sequences like Transformers and Iron Man, mixed with JJ Abrams' trademark mind games and the mysterious panoramas from his TV work. "The Soloist" - Latest Movie Casualty Of 2008
October 20, 2008

First it was "Star Trek 11." Then "Harry Potter 6." Then "The Road." Now we've learned that the movie "The Soloist" is also being moved from a 2008 movie release to 2009. "The Soloist" stars Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx.
"The Soloist," a drama about an L.A. Times columnist and a homeless violinist, is being punished for being a DreamWorks movie in the wake of the company's unpleasant divorce with Paramount. "The Road Movie" - Now A 2009 Movie Release?
October 16, 2008

First it was "Star Trek 11." Then "Harry Potter 6." Now we've learned that the movie "The Road," which Wild About Movies pontificated about not even having an official theatrical movie poster in release, is also being moved from a November 2008 movie release to 2009.
According to our sources at one of the four production companies for "The Road," we hear, "Harvey Weinstein is more concerned about his movie 'The Reader,' starring Kate Winslett and Ralph Fiennes, and though he has high hopes for "The Road," he feels that the movie 'The Reader," a much less dark film, has a better chance to garner a number of 2009 Oscar nominations. The fact that 'The Road' is still in post production, and not ready for release in November, gives Weinstein more reason to delay the release of "The Road" until LATE, fall/winter 2009." Which means "The Road" wouldn't be an Oscar contender until 2010. UGH!
Oddly, Stephen Daldry, director of 'The Reader," (both "'The Reader" and "The Road" are Weinstein Co. releases), was ticked at Weinstein who pressured, and continues to pressure Daldry to ready his 'The Reader" for a December 2008 release, even though Daldry thought the film deserved much more time in the editing room.
Stay tuned for this latest Weinstein drama. We'll be keeping you posted.
Note, however, that neither "The Road," nor 'The Reader" - nor "Shanghai," nor "Crossing Over," all alleged December 2008 big screen Weinstein releases, have movie posters, trailers or official websites... (continue)

Robert Downey Jr & Guy Ritchie's NO SHIT "SHERLOCK"
October 12, 2008

The inestimable Rachel McAdams costars. For some reason, we don't think that Starbucks, neon streetlights, nor police cars such as the one parked behind Robert Downey Jr. were around back in the make believe days of "Sherlock Holmes." We'll leave it up to Guy Ritchie to bring us an authentic London circa Sherlock Holmes era... (continue)

EXCLUSIVE MOVIE POSTER PREMIERE
October 8, 2008

Two days ago we brought you the story (see "SPECIAL," below) about the AOL website claiming to feature movie posters exclusively. And we didn't name them. Today, they're at it again and we're pointing all of our fingers at them and the actual site that DID premiere the movie poster, 24 hours before.
On October 6, 2008 our good friends at www.impawards.com, the best and biggest movie poster website in the world, debuted the movie poster for "Dear Zachary."
Today, the Time Warner owned blog, Cinematical, which employs suspect writers and editors, claimed in bold, italicized letters, "EXCLUSIVE: DEAR ZACHARY POSTER PREMIERE."
Perhaps Cinematical will exclusively post the winner of this year's presidential race, too, a day after the rest of the world was in on the news. Lord knows the site has stolen a few of our stories and spun them as if they were their original ideas. Perhaps they have not an original brain amongst their 'writers."

"Harvey Weinstein: The Devil In Wrinkled Suit"
October 2, 2008

Most movie studios, from the top down to the publicity teams, including Disney, Universal, Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros, are run by the most incompetent and sometimes completely insane. But The Weinstein Co. takes the cake for being the movie studio headed by the most vile, self centered, egotistical, incompetent, and fat as a hog, Harvey Weinstein. The studio has seven movies yet to release in theaters this 2008, yet only 2 have movie posters and movie trailers provided for your viewing pleasure. And "The Reader," starring Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes, directed by the amazing Stephen Daldry is being 'rushed' to movie theaters because the selfish Harvey Weinstein wants his film to be able to compete for "2009 Oscars."
Simply put, The Weinstein Co. Fall/Winter 2008 movie releases, "The Reader," "The Road," "Crossing Over," "Shanghai" and "Fanboys" - as of today - have no official movie posters for their releases, nor any official websites, but more importantly not even a movie trailer - for any of the above!
"The Road" is one of the most anticipated movies of the Fall 2008 movie season and is in theaters in less than 6 weeks. And there is still not a movie trailer for the film, let alone a poster.
Wild About Movies gets over 10,000 unique requests from GOOGLE users, alone, each 'day' looking for their first look of "The Road" movie trailer. We've emailed the VP of publicity at The Weinstein Co. (and her assistant) more than 5 times during the past 2 months asking when "The Road" movie poster will be unveiled and when "The Road" movie trailer will get its debut. We also asked why there are no posters or movie trailers of the majority of their Fall/Winter 2008 releases. All of our emails went unanswered. (They must be busy trying to come up with a last minute marketing campaign for each of their Fall/Winter 2008 movie releases).
If you remember, last year, The Weinstein Co. had only one movie that was in Oscar competition; the dreadful Denzel Washington flick "The Great Debaters." The studio waited until 3 weeks before that film's release to unveil a poster for the film and thought their film was so great the Academy would just vote it into Oscar history.
Thankfully, the Academy read into the Golden Globe nonsensical hype - (The Golden Globe committee nominated "The Great Debaters" for a Best Picture award) - and honored "The Great Debaters" a big fat ZERO Oscar nominations.
Wild About Movies is quite shocked, however, with the way The Weinstein Co., especially Harvey Weinstein, is handling two movies; "The Reader" and "The Road," both with potential to not only earn a 2009 Oscar nomination for Best Picture and Best Director. But each film has an even chance to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
It was reported yesterday that Harvey Weinstein demanded Stephen Daldry, the director of "The Reader," have the movie ready for release on December 12, even though Daldry has repeatedly, publicy, exclaimed that he needs more time to edit the film so that it is released in its best possible condition.
According to many reports Weinstein doesn't care about the quality of "The Reader." He wants it in theaters during Oscar season so it will have a 'chance' to compete.
As for "The Road." We're still thrown for a loop on that one. The interest in this movie is more than that of even "Twilight," according to Google. And The Weinstein Co. has more or less let on that "Mum's the word on 'The Road."
Yes, "The Road" is a very dark, depressing film but if 1/10th as good as the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, it will end up being one of the best movies of the decade. As a matter of fact, the majority of movies to win the Best Picture Oscar this century have been dark, violent, depressing films. Remember "No Country For Old Men," (incidentally, based on a Cormac McCarthy novel, too, as is "The Road"), "The Departed," "Crash," "Million Dollar Baby," "Lord Of The Rings," "American Beauty" and "Gladiator."
The movie posters and movie trailers for each of those Oscar winning movies were released no less than two months prior to their theatrical releases.
Of note, The Weinstein Co. has released movie posters and movie trailers for two of their Fall/Winter 2008 movies; "Zack & Miri Make Porno" and "Soul Men." Perhaps they should be concentrating more on their movies that will be remembered in ten years, instead of movies that will be forgotten ten days after their theatrical releases.
"Disney's Bolt Trailer" And Movie Poster

"The Cup" Movie Poster Premiere
September 30, 2008

Based on a true story, renowned Irish horse trainer Dermot Weld (Ray Winstone, "Beowulf") inspires a young jockey Damien Oliver (Stephen Curry) to overcome the death of his race jockey brother and win the Melbourne Cup. Simon Wincer, of "Free Willy" fame, directs this movie to a hopeful #1 at the movie box office. Wincer knows a thing or two about horses, as he directed one of the most successful and popular television miniseries of all time, "Lonesome Dove." And the 1980s film about the horse "Phar Lap."

"Movie Posters" - BEHIND THE CURVE
September 19, 2008

There is nothing more infuriating, especially at Wild About Movies, than when we receive the movie trailer for a movie, and a chance to go BEHIND THE SCENES, when the movie studio still has not released the movie poster for their movie they want us to promote. As of today, there are still over one dozen movies that are to be released in movie theaters before year's end that do NOT have official movie posters.
Keep in mind, dozens of movies not in theaters until 2009, 2010 or 2011, already have movie posters.
The current biggest offenders, i.e., movie studios which have not yet released OFFICIAL movie posters for movies which are to be released in 2008, many of them potential "2009 Oscar Winners":

"Humboldt County" VS "Humboldt Park"
September 8, 2008

Originally entitled "Humboldt Park," the movie "Nothing Like The Holidays" comes to theaters just in time for, well, the holidays. There was a title change because of the release of "Humboldt County," a September 2008 movie release, and the confusion that would arise with both movies competing in theaters. Imagine the horrors that would occur at the movie box office at theaters playing both movies. Or the looks on the faces of mom and dad who bought a ticket to the R-rated "Humboldt County" instead of the PG-13-rated "Humboldt Park" and had to explain to little Sara and David what all the pot smoking, nudity and sexual situations were about... "Zack And Miri Make A Porno" - Movie Poster Premiere
September 5, 2008

Click on the poster above, of the upcoming raunchy comedy "Zack And Miri Make A Porno" and you'll figure out why the film's poster - in the current incarnation - will not be gracing the walls of movie theatrers in Puritanical United States. In case you're slow, check out the bottom of the poster. where the heads of each character from the other side of the poster are positioned, to figure out why the poster, according to the MPAA, is unsuitable for U.S. movie theaters, bus stops, billboards and magazines. By the way, "Zack And Miri" was originally rated NC-17, but after some snipping, the final edit earned the coveted R-rating. Which leads us to continue to wonder - until the day a movie is released in theaters with an NC-17 rating, without controversy - why the hell it was invented by the MPAA in the first place... "Morgan Freeman in Critical Condition"
August 4, 2008

The Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman has been seriously injured in a car crash. The accident happened on Sunday night, according to the Mississippi highway patrol. At around 11.30pm local time Freeman, 71, was driving east on Highway 32 when his car skidded off the road and flipped several times. 'Jaws of life' were used to extract Morgan Freeman, and a female passenger, from the wrecked car. The actor - who was apparently conscious and talking after the accident - was airlifted to a hospital in Memphis, where he was described as in 'critical condition.' There was no word on the condition of the passenger. After shooting to fame as Jessica Tandy's benign chauffeur in Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Morgan Freeman confirmed his place in Hollywood's A-list when he co-starred in The Shawshank Redemption (1994). Freeman's career since has been consistently strong, with starring roles in Million Dollar Baby (2004) and Batman Begins (2005). Morgan Freeman was most recently seen in Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel, "The Dark Knight." Morgan Freeman is due to star as Nelson Mandela in The Human Factor, currently in pre-production.
Emile Hirsch Gay? Who Really Cares?
August 4, 2008

A crew member on Emile Hirsch's movie "Speed Racer" is convinced the actor is gay, after walking in on an awkward moment between him and co-star Kick Gurry. The pair was taking a break between scenes in a trailer onset in Berlin, Germany, when an assistant burst in, while the "Into the Wild" actor was half naked and out of breath. Hirsch explains, in improper English, "Me and Kick were in the trailer hanging out. Kick was sitting back with his hands behind his head and I was doing push ups. It was hot so I peeled my driver's suit down a bit, and then Eric, the wonderfully gay production assistant, walked in. I jumped up really quick, but I was out of breath. Eric slammed the door shut. We went to Eric later and tried to explain. He was like, 'Shhhhh. I will never tell.'" But Hirsch discovered a positive side to the confusion, when Eric leaped to his defence during a later confrontation. He adds, "I then got in this feud with a German woman and Eric defended me. He told her, "You do not understand what this boy goes through every day.'" Hirsch has been linked with (what does that mean? dinner with a fag hag?) Mamma Mia: The Movie! star Amanda Seyfried, and the obviously queen (bottom), see picture below), Gurry 'dated' the 'should-be openly-lesbian), Christina Ricci. (What are Hollywood publicists up to, what with pairing a seemingly Mary Louise (Kirk) with a butch dyke (Ricci)? Would ANYONE, even my 94 year old grandmother, believe the queen in the above photo, would be plowing bonafide lesbian Christina Ricci? Let's get serious, people.
Let's stop this gay and lesbian Hollywood actor - trying to be straight - nonsense, today, just as Hollywood needs to stop 'reporting' nonsensical record breaking movie box office.
Movies which made $600 million 12 years ago, such as "Titanic," are in no class with today's "The Dark Knight" - with ticket prices - a lot more. And "Titanic," twelve years ago, is in no class with "E.T.", a 1982 movie theater release, which grossed over $400 million during its United States theatrical release, when movie ticket prices averaged $2.54. Ticket prices when "Titanic" was released, averaged $4.59, and, today, aveage $7.04*
* Movie ticket price averages figure in the following: weekend and evening prices; matinee prices; children's tickets; second run house prices; and special engagement prices, including the current 3D and IMAX theater ticket prices.
"Heather Matarazzo: Latest Hollywood Lesbian To Come Out of the Closet"
August 3, 2008

It shouldn't be shocking that any star under a certain age, male or female, would come out of the closet in this climate and day and age. The public, though, seem to care less about lesbians than homosexuals - who are famous. Lesbians, well, they couldn't care less about. Homos, if Tom Cruise, came out of the closet, for instance, or even Elijah Wood, the gossip rags, and the Joneses next door, wouldn't shut up, ever. Latest famous lesbian to 'come out' - Heather Matarazzo (above left), who shot to fame, as a young teen, over a dozen years ago in the big screen cult classic "Welcome To The Dollhouse."

First Gay Movie Sanctioned by NHL: "Breakfast With Scot"
July 11, 2008
Gay themed movies - especially in movie theaters - are a dime a dozen. But there aren't many good or funny ones dealing with kids growing up gay, or queeny, in this case - and with two gay dads.
