"Transformers The Movie" #1

Transformers Movie Poster

Paramount Pictures' "Transformers The Movie" stole the 4th of July weekend holiday box office with over $155 million - during its first seven days in theaters.

The only other new film in wide release, the Robin Williams 'comedy' "License To Wed," was D.O.A.

Compared to "Transformers The Movie" $17,000 per screen average, "License To Wed" managed a paltry $4,000 per screen.

While John Travolta won't be on screen for two weeks - in wig, mumu, pumps and makeup - in "Hairspray The Movie," his "Wild Hogs," which was released in March, is still in the Top 25.

The Big Three - "Spiderman 3," "Shrek 3" and "Pirates 3" - have all finally, each, amassed over $300 million, domestically. Looks like Spidey will be the winner at the box office, when all is said and done!
