Brett Somers, "Match Game" Star - Dead at 83
September 18, 2007
Actress and comedian Brett Somers, who amused game show fans with her quips on the "Match Game" in the 1970s, has died. She was 83. Somers died Saturday at her home in Westport of stomach and colon cancer. Hosted by the late Gene Rayburn, "Match Game" was the top rated game show during much of the 1970s. Contestants would try to match answers to - many times, vulgar - questions with a panel of celebrities; much of the humor came from the racy quips and putdowns. "Match Game" episodes from the 1973-79 run, featuring regulars like Somers, Richard Dawson and the late Charles Nelson Reilly, are still seen on cable TV's GSN (Game Show Network.) Somers married actor Jack Klugman, the future star of the television shows "Quincy" and "The Odd Couple," in 1953. The two separated in 1974, but never divorced. They had one son.
If bad things happen in threes, perhaps Richard Dawson should watch out. Earlier this year, one of TVs first openly gay comdians, Charles Nelson Reilly, of "Match Game," passed away. (His film - "The Life Of Reilly" - hits theaters later this year.)

Charlize Theron Puts On A Wedding Band
New Husband's Movie - Picked Up At Toronto
September 17, 2007
Oscar winning "Monster," Charlize Theron and gorgeous long-time boyfriend, Stuart Townshend, have declared themselves "married" despite never making the union official. The couple showed off their "wedding" rings at the premiere of Townsend's directorial debut, Battle In Seattle - which stars Theron - at the Toronto Film Festival on Wednesday. Townsend revealed, "We didn't do a church wedding or anything, but we're married. We're husband and wife. We love each other and we want to spend our lives together. We didn't have a ceremony, I don't need a certificate or the state or the church to say otherwise. So no there's no big official story on a wedding, but we are married. I consider her my wife and she considers me her husband."
Meanwhile,
ThinkFilm won the war for "Battle in Seattle", acquiring all U.S. rights for about $2 million. "Battle in Seattle" had its world premiere Saturday night at the Toronto Film Festival and marks Stuart Townsend's directorial debut. The film is set amid the protests and riots that surrounded the World Trade Organization's 1999 meeting in Seattle.
"David Cronenberg's Eastern Promises" Best Picture Winner At Toronto Film Festival
September 16, 2007
David Cronenberg's thriller "Eastern Promises" won Best Picture at the 32nd Toronto Film Festival, which closed last night. Starring Viggo Mortensen - in a now famous 4-minute nude fighting scene - and Naomi Watts, the Focus Features film explores the underbelly of a notorious Russian mob family in London when a midwife goes looking for the truth after a teenager dies in childbirth.
During its 32 years only two (2) Toronto Film Festival Best Picture winners have gone on to win the Best Picture Oscar; 1999's "American Beauty" and 1981's "Chariots Of Fire."
It's way to early to tell whether or not "Eastern Promises" will even get a Best Picture Oscar nomination, let alone win the coveted award. But, if my gut is correct, "Eastern Promises" doesn't have a chance at even a Best Picture Oscar nomination.

"Stardust" - Most Poorly Marketed & Under-rated Movie of 2007
September 14, 2007
"Stardust." Have you seen it? Never mind. You probably have not even heard of one of this year's best movies. WAM absolutely loved it and there's plenty of buzz on the web complaining about why it didn't do well when it was released in theaters, by Paramount, over one month ago.
Why is "Stardust" the most under-rated, most misunderstood and most under-marketed major studio movie for 2007? Perhaps the new incompetents, Michael Vollman, and Christine Batista, who hijacked Paramount publicity, when they moved over in the now second guessed Dreamworks - Paramount merger, couldn't quite figure out what sort of movie it was or what genre "Stardust" should have been pigeon-holed into.
"Stardust" won't even end up with $40 million in the United States, for a theatrical gross. But, released just a week ago in Russia, the film has earned more than $7 million - and in foreign markets, overall, over $18 million.
Guess the Paramount foreign publicists are really worth their rubles.

Bill O'Reilly Calls For "Imprisonment" of Brian DePalma!!! We Report - You Decide
September 13, 2007

"Redacted," Brian DePalma's' latest, won the Best Director award last week at The Venice Film Festival. And it is one of the most popular movies of the week at WAM. Just go to Google.com and type in REDACTED TRAILER and see where the WAM page is ranked.
What I find kind of funny is that Bill O'Reilly, (someone who I either love or hate, depending on what he is saying, since I am the bipolar type), who hasn't seen "Redacted," is getting so worked up about a movie that quite possible may become one of the most popular mockumentaries, if we can call "Redacted" that, ever made by an A-list director.
I am the believer in there is no such thing as bad publicity. So, even though O'Reilly (whose dirty laundry has been aired in public, yet who suffered nothing for it), is calling for the imprisonment of Brian DePalma for making the movie "Redacted," he is doing more harm to his cause by even having mentioned the movie on his highly rated and much watched nightly news program on the FOX News Channel.
We report. You Decide. Read up on "Redacted" and see what Bill O'Reilly says - about a movie he hasn't seen. And register to win passes to see it for free, before it comes out... (continue)
Viggo Mortensen Nude - Full Frontal In Wrestling Scene - "Eastern Promises"
September 10, 2007
David Cronenberg's "Eastern Promises," is due in theaters any day now and it's getting a lot of attention from Viggo Mortensen fans because he does a 4-minute fight scene in the nude.
We thought we would alert fans to the first famous men-fighting-in-the-nude scene in cinema, Ken Russell's WOMEN IN LOVE in 1969, which caused a huge brouhaha when it came out, so to speak.
But Viggo is fighting for his life. The two men in WOMEN IN LOVE are fighting, but not for their lives, and we want to know what's wrong with this picture... (continue)
Oscar Winning Director Ang Lee's NC-17 Rated "Lust, Caution" Wins Best Picture At Venice Film Festival
September 9, 2007
Ang Lee's sexually explicit "Lust, Caution" was the surprise winner, yesterday, of the Golden Lion for best picture at the "2007 Venice Film Festival" on Saturday, just two years after he won with "Brokeback Mountain."
"Lust, Caution" is a World War Two thriller set in Shanghai featuring long and sometimes violent sex scenes which Lee has hinted were real. The film has been rated NC-17 by the MPAA and no one under 17 will be allowed to buy a ticket to the film.
(Of course, with most theaters staffed with 17 year olds, and no theaters ripping tickets at each auditorium, rather just at the entrance, nothing will, at all, prevent any horny person under the age of 17 from walking into "Lust, Caution," after buying a ticket for, say, "The Simpsons Movie.")
Most U.S. theater chains, including the largest, AMC Theaters, foolishly refuse to show NC-17 films - at the moment. Will the tide turn with this film, which many consider a front runner for Best Picture and Director Oscar nominations?
Brian De Palma, whose "Redacted" shocked audiences in Venice with its brutal reconstruction of the real-life rape and murder of a 14-year-old Iraqi girl by U.S. soldiers, won the Silver Lion award for best director.

Heath Ledger & Michelle Williams Break Up!
Is Jake The Homewrecker?
September 6, 2007
After more than two years together, and one baby, Matilda, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams (who met on the set of "Brokeback Mountain") are splitting. Sources say the official cause is 'scheduling conflicts.' Or could it be that Ledger was more smitten with Jake Gyllenhaal during filming of Brokeback Mountain and decided he was a little tighter and fun in the sack? Discuss! And, if you have some spare time, and want to revisit the "Brokeback Mountain," read our exclusive interview with Heath Ledger - which was conducted in NYC before the film's release... (continue)
First "Scented" Newspaper Movie Ad
For "Mr. Magorium"
September 5, 2007
The Los Angeles Times announced, yesterday, that they will feature the first ever ad using scented ink to uniquely tout the 20th Century Fox release of "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium," opening nationwide on November 16th. Starring Academy Award winner Dustin Hoffman and Academy Award nominee Natalie Portman, "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" is the story of the strangest, most fantastic, most wonderful toy store in the world and the equally fantastic and wonderfully innovative ad will debut in the paper's annual Fall Movie Sneaks section on September 9th. The Times becomes the first major newspaper in the country to successfully present and implement the pioneering application which adds a rich, new dimension to the medium. Oh! And if you're wondering which scent the studio chose to plant on the newspaper's pages? Wonder no longer. "Frosted Cake." To register for Free Advance Movie Screenings of "Mr. Magorium"... (continue)
"Hawaii Five-0 + Quentin Tarantino = 0
September 4, 2007
Quentin Tarantino was horrified when studio bosses suggested he directs the big-screen version of cult '70s show Hawaii Five-O - he hates the series. Warner Bros. Pictures is currently developing a movie version of the Jack Lord-starring TV show, which ended in 1980 after 12 years. Tarantino says, "My producing partner at the time Lawrence Bender was hanging out with some dude from Fox or Warners or whatever, and they said I should stop working on what I was doing, because I'd be so into this."
Adds Tarantino, "I tried to watch the old TV show, but it sucks. I don't even like Hawaii." Well, he should do a sequel to his half of "Grindhouse." Remember "Death Proof?" Everyone loved that. Um, we mean, only he loved it, since it is one of, if not the biggest, commercial box office bombs of 2007. For the record, "Grindhouse" took in just over $25 million during its entire North American theatrical run. Most critics, including this one, expected at least that much just during its opening weekend. Oh! And "Grindhouse" cost over $70 million to make. When was the last time a Quentin Tarantino movie made $75 million or more? Actually, not since 1994, with "Pulp Fiction." So, Quentin, shut the fuck up and take whatever movie is offered to you. A big screen version of "Hawaii Five-0," done Quentin style, sounds as if it could be a $200 million summer blockbuster. Especially if it starred Pierce Brosnan, former 007, as Steve McGarrett.
Toronto Film Festival VIPS
Banned From Smoking Inside -
Even In Hotels
September 1, 2007
The Ontario government has let it be known that it will not tolerate American or other foreign movie stars flouting the Canadian province's anti-smoking laws at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. Asked by the Canadian CanWest News Service about last year's incident in which Sean Penn smoked a cigarette at a news conference while promoting his latest film, Jim Watson, Ontario's Minister of Health Promotion, said, "No one is above the law, and just because you happen to be famous or in the movies doesn't mean you can snub our laws and endanger people in the process," In last year's incident, Penn himself was not punished, but the Sutton Place Hotel, where the news conference was held, was fined $600 for failing to enforce the smoking ban. Watson said Thursday that he has asked the film festival to make visitors aware of the Smoke-Free Ontario Act, which bars smoking indoors at all public places. Penn is due to return to the festival next week as the director of Into the Wild.
Day Of "Atonement"
For Focus Features?
August 31, 2007
The Venice Film Festival opened Wednesday night with several critics predicting that the opening night film, Focus Features' "Atonement," will not only capture the festival's Golden Lion award but numerous Oscars as well. Well, well, well. We think its 2008 Oscar chances for Best Picture are pretty slim, since the incompetent Focus Features publicity machine, run by Adriene Bowles and Kyle Thorpe counted their Oscars before the ballots were cast for their "Brokeback Mountain" two years ago. Pride does cometh before the fall and Focus is set up for failure - yet again. Watch the "Atonement" trailer, right here, right now. "Atonement" stars that sexy faun from "The Chronicles of Narnia 2," James McAvoy and former Best Actress nominee, and "Pirates Of The Caribbean" star, Keira Knightley.. (continue)

Owen Wilson
Attempts Suicide
Now At Cedars-Sinai In 90210
UPDATE
August 29, 2007
British funnyman Steve Coogan is taking swift legal advice after he was accused of providing Owen Wilson with the hard drugs that sent the actor spiraling to an all-time low. The Life Aquatic star is now recovering from the confirmed suicide bid at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as speculation about his mental state circulates through the world's media. And now Coogan has been dragged into the controversy after Fox News claimed friends of Wilson's were blaming the actor's Night At The Museum co-star for getting him into drugs. The news report features a quote from Courtney Love, who reportedly dated Coogan. She says, "I tried to warn Owen... I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." But Coogan insists he's innocent to the charges he aided Wilson's decline, stating, "These accusations are unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful to all concerned." The Brit adds, "We are taking legal advice."
August 28, 2007
He is known for his comedies but it looks like actor Owen Wilson was feeling far from funny when he landed in a hospital after a failed suicide attempt on Sunday, August 26, 2007. According to multiple news reports, the star of "Meet The Parents," "The Wedding Crashers" and the upcoming "The Darjeeling Limited" had cut his left wrist and taken a number of pills. His brother Andrew found him and called 911. Owen Wilson was taken by ambulance to St. John's hospital in Santa Monica, CA, stitched up and sent to detox. Stay tuned...

Mel Gibson Praised In Court Over DUI Arrest
By Presumably Christian Judge
August 25, 2007
Note: In order to retain some symmetry, here at the WAM Blog, we could have brought you another story of a celebrity being robbed. Yes, Kirsten Dunst's NYC hotel room was robbed - gasp - of a $13,000 handbag, by a douche bag. Tough titty said the kitty. At least she wasn't in the room and beaten or raped. Apparently Spiderman was preoccupied or just sick of Mary Jane and decided to let her cut her losses. And, as the majority of Hollywood celebrities receive designer bags, clothes, shoes and Botox for free, most likely, Dunst received the handbag for free. More interesting, we think...
Oscar winning director and Jew hater Mel Gibson has been praised for his progress by a presumably Christian California judge following his arrest for driving under the influence last year. The Passion of the Chris director, 51, was arrested for drunk driving on July 28, 2006 in Malibu, when he proceeded to verbally abuse arresting officer James Mee with anti-Semitic remarks. In August 2006, Gibson pleaded no contest to misdemeanor drunk driving charges and was sentenced to three years probation, a 90 day alcohol-abuse program and 12 months of Alcoholic Anonymous meetings.
Cinema Paradiso Director Mugged In Rome
August 24, 2007
Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore has been hospitalized in Rome after being mugged by two men. The Cinema Paradiso filmmaker, 51, was walking in the Italian capital on Tuesday evening when he was attacked by two young thugs. He was admitted to hospital for head trauma and other minor injuries. Tornatore can recall being asked for directions by one of the muggers, before being hit on the head. He says, "After that I don't remember anything." The two men stole the director's wallet, watch and mobile phone. Cinema Paradiso retains a spot on WAM's "Best 100 Movies of the 80s"... (continue)

"High School Musical 2"
Dances Into Record Books
August 21, 2007
Disney Channel's "High School Musical 2" sang and danced its way to history Friday night when 17.24 million viewers tuned in, making the original movie's debut the most-watched basic cable telecast of all time. "High School Musical 2," the sequel to the successful 2006 television movie, surpassed the previous record holder, ESPN's Monday Night Football game on Sept. 23, 2006, which averaged 16 million viewers.
"High School Musical 2"also shattered the previous basic cable record for an entertainment program, surpassing the 12.5 million viewers who saw the 2001 premiere of the TNT Western Crossfire Trail.
"For months we've been asking kids 'What time is it?' and it's exciting to finally get the answer ... it's time for record-breaking ratings," said Anne Sweeney, president of Disney Television Group.
Overall, "High School Musical 2," starring Zac Efron, was the most watched program on television since the season finale of Fox's hit drama House on May 29 logged 17.26 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Baby Suri + Baby Gap?
August 17, 2007
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have denied claims their (alleged) daughter Suri will front a new advertising campaign by Baby Gap, insisting the reports are "totally untrue." The alleged biological parents of Suri, Cruise and Holmes (DNA tests have yet to prove the child has any relation to either) were reportedly offered a lucrative modeling contract by Baby Gap for their 16-month-old daughter to become the new face of the kids' fashion label.
You'll all remember that Cruise, when confronted about being homosexual (which many allege he is) said it is "totally untrue." And that when Katie Holmes was allegedly with (his) child, (even though doctors have speculated that Cruise shoots duds), that they claimed pregnancy reports were "totally untrue," which may have been true, since it took so long for Baby Suri to materialize after she was allegedly born. Two months before the first photo? We think Baby Suri is adopted or an alien, if not kidnapped from some Asian country - she does look Asian, or at least a little retarded - or is 'touched' a more civil word in these ridiculously politically correct days when it comes to describing a child who looks a bit mongoloid?
Before you start carrying on about our insensitivity to mongoloids - let's present the Miriam Webster definitions of 'mongoloid,' with which we have killed TWO birds with one stone - Mongoloid - 1: of, constituting, or characteristic of a race of humankind native to Asia and classified according to physical features; 2 often relating to, or affected with Down syndrome (or retarded, for any who don't know what Down Syndrome is.)
Nonetheless, don't put any faith in the "totally untrue" remark by Cruise when it comes to Baby Suri and Baby Gap. We're betting we see Baby Suri on TV in the first ever Baby Gap commericials in the next six months! Do stay tuned.
Escape From New York
Remake Sans Kurt Russell
August 16, 2007
Kurt Russell reprised his role as Snake Plissken in the 1996 sequel to Escape From New York, Escape From L.A. Well, more than a decade later, 2009, Len Wisemen, director of this summer's "Die Hard 4", remakes the original - Escape From New York, with Gerard Butler climbing onto Russell's motorcycle and into Snake's pants, as a younger, sexier Snake Plissken.
Don Imus

And $20 Million Richer!
August 15, 2007
Don Imus is planning a radio comeback after reaching a settlement over his multimillion-dollar contract with CBS. Imus was axed from CBS Radio earlier this year after he called the mostly-black Rutgers University Women's Basketball Team 'nappy headed hoes' on his radio show Imus In The Morning. Imus threatened to sue CBS for $120 million in a breach of contract lawsuit but the two parties reached an agreement yesterday. Many insiders put the deal at $20 million. Now Imus is in talks with rivals WABC-AM radio to resume his broadcasting career, some say as soon as tomorrow.

Merv Griffin
Dead At 82
August 12, 2007
Merv Griffin, who worked in front of television cameras as a jovial talk-show host and behind the scenes as creator of two of the longest-running TV game shows, "Jeopardy!'' and "Wheel of Fortune,'' has died. He was 82.
Prostate cancer that spread to other organs in an "unexpected and immediate'' manner caused his death, said doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, according to a statement released by a spokeswoman for the Griffin Group/Merv Griffin Entertainment. Griffin was in the midst of his first week of production of a new game show, "Merv Griffin's Crosswords,'' when he was hospitalized a month ago. He lived on a mountaintop estate in La Quinta, California, near Palm Springs.
"The Merv Griffin Show'' aired for 23 years and helped jump-start the careers of George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Lily Tomlin, Whitney Houston and Jerry Seinfeld. Griffin taped more than 5,500 shows and interviewed 25,000 guests, including four U.S. presidents, Martin Luther King Jr. and John Lennon when he was still a Beatle.
Through his production company, he created "Jeopardy!'' in 1964, a trivia game show that has run in several iterations ever since. Griffin even composed the familiar "Final Jeopardy!'' countdown music.
Anton Yelchin

Never Heard of Anton Yelchin?
Now You Have!!!
August 10, 2007

Never heard of Anton Yelchin? Well, then, you're either (A), not a nerd; (B), not into hot, sexy boys; (C) have never watched Law & Order and/or Without A Trace.
Anton Yelchin thought he was going to have his big break - his first starring role in a major motion picture - this month, in "Charlie Bartlett." Well, as usual, MGM fucked up, as they have for the past umpteenth of their films and "Charlie Bartlett," even though four, yes, 4, "Charlie Bartlett" posters were created by MGM, with an August 2007 release date attached, "Charlie Barlett' is now scheduled for release TBD 2008.
At this point, it seems Anton Yelchin doesn't give a rat's ass. Why, you ask?
Because J.J. Abrams has just cast him in a coveted role in "Star Trek 11."
What's Anton Yelchin's story, you wonder, silently or aloud? ... (continue)
Jamie Bell & Daniel Craig
Playing Jews In "Defiance"
August 9, 2007

Ed Zwick's latest film "Defiance" has just nabbed Jamie Bell (not Jewish) for its cast. Daniel Craig (not Jewish) and Liev Schreiber (Jewish) are also starring in the drama. The film revolves around three Jewish brothers who escape Nazi occupied Poland to join a team of Russian resistance fighters. Their one goal is to save the lives of other Jews. The script of "Defiance," written by Ed Zwick, is based on a true story. Craig, Schrieber, and Bell will be playing the three brothers. The film is set to go into production before the end of the year. We're just sure, however, that neither Bell, nor Craig will be showing their penises in the film - because..., well, as you know, Jews are circumcised, and as we know from seeing Bell on stage in the West End production of "Equus," he is uncut. And we're assuming the same about 007, Craig. Talk about a Best Makeup Oscar winning movie, if the two non-circumcised, in fact, which we have heard, will be baring it all.
Lionsgate And Red Cross Partner
For Saw 4 - What A Horror!
August 7, 2007

According to a press release sent out today by Lionsgate, (the studio that has released many of this year's biggest and bloodiest bombs - "Skinwalkers", "The Condemned," "Hostel 2," "Captivity"), they, Lionsgate, and the American Red Cross announced a formal partnership for the Fourth Annual Saw "Give Til It Hurts" blood drive benefiting the Red Cross. The blood drive will coincide with the Halloween premiere of "Saw 4," which opens nationwide on October 26, 2007. The announcement was made jointly by Lionsgate Co-Presidents of Theatrical Marketing Tim Palen and Sarah Greenberg and Gregory S. Ballish, Senior Vice President, Biomedical Services, American Red Cross. We're sure that most of the blood donated from this campaign will have to be destroyed because - we think - most donors solicited from this campaign will be stoners, cokeheads and STD carriers, and their blood will be condemned!
Jessica Simpson's Debut as Lead Actress - Relegated to DVD - Skipping Theaters

Johnny Depp in "The Rum Diary"
August 1, 2007
Actor Johnny Depp is bringing Hunter S. Thompson's autobiographical novel "The Rum Diary" to the silver screen - seven years after he was announced as the leading man. Depp was cast to play the role of Thompson in 2000, co-starring with Nick Nolte in the tale of a journalist's adventures as he moves from New York to a San Juan newspaper in Puerto Rico. Benicio Del Toro and Josh Hartnett were also appointed to star in the movie in 2002, but the actors, including Nolte, are no longer involved in the film. The revived project will now be produced by Depp and The Departed filmmaker Graham King - who has acquired the full rights to the book. "The Rum Diary" will be penned and directed by Withnail And I writer Bruce Robinson, with shooting expected to begin after Depp finishes filming his current movie, Shantaram, with Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan. You'll remember, if you're a Hunter S. Thompson fan and/or know Johnny Depp inside-out, that Depp starred in the Hunter S. Thompson big screen adaptation (which was horrrible) of "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas."

2007 ended up being Comic-Con's most successful year to date, since it began in 1970. What originally was conceived as a comic book convention has turned into one of the biggest Television and Movie conventions of the year, rivaling ShoWest in Las Vegas.
This year, Wild About Movies was provided with First Looks of numerous upcoming films, some not in theaters until 2009, including "Star Trek XI," "Watchmen," "Sweeney Todd," "Stardust," "Indiana Jones 4," "Doomsday," "The Dark Knight" and "Resident Evil 3," to name just a few movies.
The most interesting fact - we think - is that Paramount Pictures (who - Thank God- probably will be severing their relationship with the dreadful Dreamworks clan - Sumner Redstone has gone on the record as being very unhappy with Brad Grey's 'coup' last year), released posters of "Star Trek 11," and "Indiana Jones 4," with just the titles "Star Trek" and "Indiana Jones," not indicating whatsoever that the movies are sequels.
Check back every day this week, as WAM will be adding more posters and trailers from movies showcased at this year's Comic-Con convention in San Diego. (Click Here)

Rip L.A. Times A New One
After Misleading Story About 20th Century Fox
July 28, 2008
The Los Angeles Times, one of the most unreputable newspapers in the nation, was called on the carpet, yesterday, by the Chicago Film Critics Association, whom they had written a slanderous, completely false, and utterly embarassing story. Today, we bring you the original LA Times story, the Chicago Film Critics official letter that rips the LA Times a new one, and the moronic "correction" that the LA Times posted in their sufffering paper, yesterday... One More "Harry Potter" Book And Movie?
July 26, 2007
"How come the sword of Gryffindor, last seen in a goblin's hand at Gringott's, pops up in Neville's hands at Hogwarts when he chops off Nagini's head?, without any explanation," asks SexualFables.com publisher Martin Blythe. Did J.K. Rowling leave that part of the story up in the air on purpose, by mistake, or is she really planning an 8th book in the "Harry Potter" saga, which will explain that mystery and others, such as the crying, naked baby in King's Cross, which Harry wonders aloud about but is never given an explanation about by Dumbledore. Want to see "Harry Potter" naked, i.e. Daniel Radcliffe, just... (continue)
Heroes Hottie
Ready to Sign for "Star Trek XI"
July 26, 2007
"Heroes" hottie, Zachary Quinto, may be starring as Spock in the new Star Trek movie, "Star Trek XI," according to media reports. Quinto, who plays Sylar in the hit TV show, is reported to be in final discussions to play iconic sci-fi character Spock for the new Star Trek film. Lost creator J.J. Abrams, most famous, recently, for directing the upcoming "01-18-08," has been lined up to direct "Star Trek XI," which will be released Christmas of 2008.
Lindsay Lohan
Arrested For Cocaine Possession
And Drunk Driving - AGAIN
July 25, 2007
Lindsay Lohan, who was out on bail awaiting a court hearing on August 24, 2007, was arrested last night after chasing - in her car - her former assistant's mother in Santa Monica. (We couldn't make this shit up if we tried.) Lohan was drunk and in possession of cocaine. Is the former tween movie star's Hollywood career over? What we don't understand is this: Lindsay Lohan was out on bail for a previous arrest, so why she was allowed to post bail AGAIN, and enter a rehab clinic, which obviously is of no use to the girl who is starting to make Paris Hilton look like Lady Godiva.
Drew Carey
Replaces Bob Barker

July 24, 2007
Forty-nine year old Drew Carey - star of the sitcom The Drew Carey Show - will replace Bob Barker as the host of the longest running game show in television history - "The Price Is Right."
Movie Junkets EXPOSED
July 23, 2007
While some websites and newspapers would have you believe they are bringing you an 'exclusive' interview with an actor or director, the fact is, that 99.9999% of the interviews you read in any newspaper, (including major dailies such as The Chicago Sun-Times, The Virginia Pilot, all Canadian dailies), or on any website, are from ROUNDTABLE interviews at the junket... 20th Century Fox
An Online Critics' Worst Nightmare?
July 21, 2007
Perhaps, because we are very close with 20th Century Fox publicists, and maybe even more important, because Wild About Movies publisher, Tim Nasson, also writes for more than 50 newspapers, nationwide, we kind of have to sit back and laugh at the following blurb from yesterday's Los Angeles Times.
Today is day 10 of the Chicago Film Critics Assn. boycott on all Fox and Fox Searchlight films. The stand taken by the critics is in protest against the studio's practice of limiting online critics' access to screenings. And now, critics from all over are pledging solidarity, says the Los Angeles Times. Critics in Washington, San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, and several cities in Florida answered Chicago's call for support. But, a solution may be imminent as Fox publicity executives considered a proposal Thursday.

"Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows"
In Bookstores TONIGHT
July 20, 2007
"Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows," the final chapter in the "Harry Potter" saga, (so Ms. Rowling - pronounced row-ling - says), hits bookstore shelves tonight at midnight. Millions of children will be up later than Christmas Eve to retrieve their copy of the #1 selling pre-order book in history. Will Harry drop dead? If so, will he die a virgin? We don't know. We have read the speculative and most likely fraudulent posts on certain internet websites alleging such things - and many others. But we, along with every other die hard Harry, Hermione and Ron fan, will wait until the clock strikes midnight, to grab our copy of the most anticipated book of this millenium, and stay up all night and the next day reading it to find out what happens to hot little Harry and his friends at Hogwarts!
"Caligula" X-Rated Film
Gets Respect It Deserves On DVD
July 19, 2007
"Caligula," the 1976 film that featured such respected - Oscar nominated or winning - actors at Malcolm McDowell, Peter O'Toole, Helen Mirren, and the late John Gielgud -- all of whom were blindsided when producer Bob Guccioni of Penthouse magazine fame cut x-rated scenes into the movie -- is due to be released on DVD as the Four-Disc Imperial Edition by Image Entertainment on October 2nd. The film has previously been released in versions that were as short as 98 minutes and as long as three hours. In a statement, the company said that the DVD set will include newly recorded, no-holds-barred commentary tracks by McDowell and Mirren. In addition, the set includes two versions of The Making of Caligula, one of which includes deleted and alternate scenes.
Aging Jewess, Barbra Streisand,
Gets
DivaBitchous In London
July 19, 2007
Barbra Streisand has shocked hotel staff in a top London hotel by issuing a laundry list of demands during her stay in the British capital. The diva is staying in a $12,000-a-night suite in the city's Dorchester Hotel, (which Wild About Movies publisher Tim Nasson has stayed at three times during the past ten years for movie junkets, including a recent Harry Potter junket), and has reportedly issued employees with strict rules - including a demand not to look the singer in the eye. A source tells London's Evening Standard, "We were given a list of requirements that had to be met. Her manager said she needed certain things to make her feel like she was at home. She is using her own security team and will hardly set foot in the main areas of the hotel. It is easy to enter and exit the hotel from her suite without ever being seen." A source from the Dorchester Hotel adds, "We are used to famous people here, but Miss Streisand is almost on a different level. Johnny Depp was here a few weeks ago, but was very low key. He just sat with friends in the bar. He was drinking a $1,200 bottle of wine, but he did not expect any special treatment. But we are expecting everything to be different for her." Streisand begins a series of live dates at The O2 in London on Wednesday. And we will keep you posted about any more divaesque demands issued by the aging Jewess, whom we thought had 'retired' during her last tour.
"Shrek 4 Movie" and "Shrek 5 Movie"
In Theaters Soon!
June 18, 2007
After this year's Shrek 3, there is confirmation, now, that there will be a fourth and fifth episode featuring the green Scottish ogre - and that will be it, DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg said at the Allen & Co. media conference in Sun Valley, Idaho. Katzenberg indicated that the studio plans to release "Shrek 4" in 2010, but he did not indicate when "Shrek 5" will come out. DreamWorks Animation spokesman Rich Sullivan said that the "story itself has five chapters," seeming to suggest that at least the outline of the scripts for the final two films has already been drafted.

July 17, 2007
Curt Schilling's photo on the homepage of the WAM website might be something for a cause for pause to many devoted readers. This is a movie website, not a Boston Red Sox, nor a sports website. But WAM is eager to promote our friend Schilling's wife's Free Summer Movie Film Series. As a melamoma cancer survivor, Mrs. Curt Schilling has created the SHADE Foundation, a charity targeting children with maladies that prevent them from enjoying their summer in the sun. What better way to enjoy a hot summer day than at the movies for free? Mrs. Schilling, along with National Amusements Theaters and Showcase Cinemas - and Paramount Pictures - have made it possible for any child unable to have fun in the sun to be swept away at the movies - for free, all summer long.

"Sex And The City Movie"
In Theaters Next Summer
July 6, 2007
New Line Cinema is getting in bed with HBO on “Sex and the City.” (After all, New Line and HBO are both owned by Time/Warner). So is this incest? After much foreplay, the feature version of the long running HBO series is gearing for a fall 2007 start, with New Line nearing a deal to finance and distribute. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are all set to reprise their roles, with longtime executive producer Michael Patrick King directing a script he wrote. King will produce with Parker, John Melfi and Darren Star, the latter of whom hatched the series, based on autobiographical columns written by Candace Bushnell. Fans of the show have clamored for a film version of “Sex and the City” since the series ended.
John Travolta Takes Gay Activists To Town
July 5, 2007
John Travolta has blasted gay rights activists who plan to boycott his new movie Hairspray, insisting he is not homophobic. The Saturday Night Fever star plays super-sized woman Edna Turnblad in the latest adaptation of the kitsch musical - but he has been accused of having "no business" reprising an iconic gay role by critics who claim his Scientology religion is homophobic. However Travolta has hit back at critics of his faith and insists he is not even playing a gay icon. He says, "There is nothing gay in this movie. I'm not playing a gay man. Scientology is not homophobic in any way. In fact it's one of the more tolerant faiths. Anyone's accepted." Does that mean, in his own little way, that he is admitting to being a closeted homosexual? Read our exclusive, and the first interview with John Travolta from "Hairspray The Movie."
Emmy Nominee Finalists Leaked
July 4, 2007
In a significant breach of security, or rather plain old blabbermouthing from one of the Emmy nominators, the top-ten finalists in each category of the Primetime Emmy Awards were disclosed Monday, and Wild About Movies has the complete (allegedly factual) list. The drama finalists are: ABC's Boston Legal, Grey's Anatomy and Lost; NBC's Friday Night Lights and Heroes; Fox's House and 24; Showtime's Dexter; and HBO's Rome and The Sopranos. The comedy finalists are: ABC's Desperate Housewives and Ugly Betty; NBC's My Name Is Earl, The Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock; CBS' Two and a Half Men; HBO's Entourage and Extras; and Showtime's Weeds. Somewhat surprisingly, NBC, the lowest-rated network, led all other networks with six shows on the two lists. ABC followed with five and HBO with four. Showtime and Fox landed two shows on the lists. CBS -- the top-rated network -- landed only one. Register tomorrow, to win a copy of "Grey's Anatomy: Season 3" on DVD. Emmy Award nominations are announced July 19, 2007. And five shows from each category listed above, Television Drama and Television Comedy, will make the cut.
Joel Siegel:
Dead At 63
July 3, 2007
We're a little late in reporting that ABC-TV film critic Joel Siegel died Friday, about a week shy of his 64th birthday (July 7), of colon cancer -- a disease that he had battled for more than ten years. However, many of our readers have not heard of the tragic news and will be shocked at his absence on morning television's top rated news show. Siegel's reviews had been regularly featured on ABC's Good Morning America where he appeared as the show's cheerful movie critic for 25 years. He last appeared on the show just two weeks ago. The network aired tributes to Siegel on its evening newscast and the magazine show 20/20 Friday. In one, anchor Charles Gibson said, "Joel's great passion was that people be entertained and that they be enriched by what they see and hear -- whether in a theater, at a concert, in an art gallery, on a television screen or even in their mind's eye." Siegel is the second well known face on ABC to lose his life to cancer during the past two years. ABC News anchor Peter Jennings died of cancer during the summer of 2005.
Bitchiest Publicist in Hollywood, Liz Rozenberg, Gets The Shaft! What Goes Around...
July 1, 2007
Celebrities, who are sometimes accustomed to receiving the latest hot gadget in advance of its release in the hope that they'll be photographed with it, have been out of luck when it comes to landing Apple's new iPhone, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday. Notoriously bitchy celebrity publicist Liz Rosenberg, whose clients include box office bomb Madonna, Liza Minnelli, and former actress Cher, told the newspaper that she had been unsuccessful trying to get an iPhone for Cher. "Doesn't winning Oscars, Grammys and Emmys entitle her to move to the front of the line?" she asked. We'll let you insert your own joke there. Talk about Karma. I remember, about ten years ago, when Madonna was on tour, Liz Rosengerg personally answered her phone when I called requesting a ticket to review the concert and she said, "Tim. I don't have any extra tickets. (Which was a blatant lie, because I ended up going to the concert in Boston with a colleague, who got 2 tickets a day after I put my call in). But if I did, I would rather burn them than give them to you." Goes to show that Hollywood is still all about backstabbing, lying and cheating your way to the top and fucking everyone else in the way to get or stay there. But it doesn't always work. Thankfully for Liz Rosenberg. We actually are embarassed for Cher and are thinking that she may fire Rosenberg for putting her in such an unseemly light. Check back for updates Monday or Tuesday.

Network Television Viewers Last Week:
Lowest Ever In Ratings History!
June 29, 2007
It was the worst of weeks for the television networks last week as they produced some of their lowest numbers since the modern ratings system began some 20 years ago. Surprisingly, the top-rated show of the week was NBC's Monday-night edition of Dateline, the magazine show that has become mostly a place-keeper for shows that have been canceled. But Monday night's show in which Matt Lauer interviewed British princes William and Harry attracted 12.2 million viewers -- the largest number of viewers to tune in since an interview with Amber Frey, the girlfriend of convicted killer Scott Peterson, aired more than two years ago. NBC also scored with its Deal or No Deal game show, which pulled in 12.1 million viewers. Nevertheless, CBS once again led in the ratings with an overall 4.8 average and a 9 share. Fox placed second with a 4.2/8. NBC came in third with a 3.5/6, while ABC trailed with a 2.7/5.
The top ten shows of the week according to Nielsen Research: 1. Dateline (Monday), NBC, 8.4/14; 2. America's Got Talent, NBC, 8.0/14; 3. Deal or No Deal (Monday), NBC, 7.8/14; 4. NCIS, CBS, 6.4/11; 5. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CBS, 6.3/11; 5. Law and Order: SVU, NBC, 6.3/11; 7. CSI: Miami, CBS, 6.2/10; 8. 60 Minutes, CBS, 5.9/12; 8. So You Think Can Dance (Thursday), Fox, 5.9/10; 8. Two and a Half Men, CBS, 5.9/10.
CABLE RATINGS SOAR
June 28, 2007
It appeared that viewers who abandoned the broadcast networks last week were high-tailing it to cable. TNT's The Closer drew 8.81 million viewers, making it the most-watched cable-TV show of the week. The TimeWarner-owned network also scored strongly with its NASCAR racing coverage on Sunday, drawing 6.52 million viewers. Overall, however, Disney Channel averaged the most total viewers for the week in primetime -- 3.13 million. A new episode of its hit Hannah Montana recorded 7.38 million viewers and placed second on Nielsen's list of top-rated cable programs. USA Network, which ordinarily dominates in the cable ratings, came in second for the week with 2.66 million viewers, edging out TNT, which ranked third with 2.51 million.
Madonna Buys SIXTH House in London!
It's Time For Her To Renounce U.S. Citizenship
June 27, 2007
Box office poison Madonna has paid $12 million for her SIXTH house in London. The 10-bedroom townhouse sits next door to the family's eight-bedroom home in the Marylebone area of the British capital. The non-Oscar nominated Evita star and director husband Guy Ritchie also own two nearby properties for their staff, and two more houses in central London. The couple paid almost twice the amount its former owner, designer/developer Paul Davies, paid in August of last year for their latest. Time Madge give up her US citizenship, we think.
Labyrinth: Yes, The David Bowie Version!
Back In Theaters Friday 29 June
June 26, 2007

Long before Jennifer Connelly won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award (opposite Russell Crowe, in "A Beautiful Mind"), she appeared alongside singer David Bowie, in his most popular film - "Labyrinth."
We wondered why Sony Pictures was re-releasing the film this summer, beginning this Friday in Boston and NYC and in additional Top 20 markets during the next few weeks.
Official answer, from a Sony rep, "
I think just for fun. No one has given me a reason. But it is a new print."
If you missed "Labyrinth" on the big screen, in theaters or weren't even born, in 1986, here's most likely your only chance.
While babysitting, teenage Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) makes a terrible wish—that her baby brother (Toby Froud) would be taken by goblins. Her wish comes true when Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie) whisks the boy off to his castle to be goblinized. Now Sarah must rescue him, and that means getting into the Goblin Castle. But between Sarah and the castle stands a magically mesmerizing world of mysterious mazes known as the Labyrinth. A stunning vision of childhood fears and fantasies, written by Terry Jones (Monty Python), produced by George Lucas (Star Wars) and directed by Jim Henson (The Dark Crystal).

James Bond Poster: A Fraud!
June 25, 2007
According to a very reputable source at Sony Pictures, the poster of the alleged 22nd James Bond film is a "complete fabrication." Case closed. Stay tuned for the official poster from Sony, probably not until Thanksgiving or Christmas of this year. Also, FYI, the title for "Bond 22" has not yet been selected. James Bond: Quantum of Solace?
June 25, 2007

It's fun sifting through e-mail, the hundreds of nonsensical ones we get each day. However, once in a while one captures our interest like no other. Yesterday, of course a weekend, non working day, in Hollywood, we received a correspondence from someone who claims to work at Sony Pictures - and who attached an alleged copy of the 'teaser' poster of the 22nd James Bond movie, due in theaters November 2008. We'll try to get to the bottom, the truth, by end of business, today. According to the official report, what we know so far, other than the film's release date, is that Abbie Cornish, the homewrecker of the Mr. Reese Witherspoon household, along with former E.R, star Goran Visnjic, have parts. As always, stay tuned.
Harry Potter's Final Page?
June 23, 2007
If you're the impatient type and sort of person who loves to believe everything they read, even if it is unfounded, then this is something you're going to love. A computer hacker ALLEGES that he logged into the computer of the final "Harry Potter" book's publisher, and scanned a copy of the book - including all of the secrets and the saga's end.
If you aren't interested in reading the book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," in July, when it hits bookstore shelves, and want to take a look at the hack job.
Whoever the alleged hacker is does not have a comprehensive grasp of the English language. The post could have been written by a three year old Albanian girl. We dare to believe it is a hoax of monstrous proportions but if you wish to see for yourself... (continue)
Katie Holmes
With Child Again?
June 22, 2007
The 'beard' marriage of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise is looking for more publicity. Holmes silenced speculation she is pregnant with her alleged second child (we're not sure Suri is a DNA match to either her or Cruise), by showing off her svelte figure in a racy swimsuit on the French Riviera Tuesday. Tom Cruise's third wife, fifteen years his junior, was reported to be in the early stages of pregnancy after she appeared to be sporting a rounded stomach as she left a Madrid, Spain restaurant after dining with celebrity pals David Beckham and Victoria Beckham on Sunday. The couple, who wed last November, allegedly already have a 14-month-old daughter Suri, while Cruise has two adopted children Isabella and Connor, from his second marriage to Nicole Kidman. Following the alleged pregnancy reports yesterday, Holmes flashed her slim figure to onlooking paparazzi as she played with Suri in the sea at the Cap D'Antibes beach resort. The couple's spokesperson says, "They are not expecting their second child." Mmm hmmm. And Tom is not gay! We bet our website on the fact that the fact that he is will come out within the next 10 years!
"Sicko" In Theaters Tomorrow!
One Week Early
June 21, 2007
In an apparent reaction to the posting of high-quality digital prints of Michael Moore's "Sicko" on several websites (Moore has suggested that the piracy was undertaken in order to sabotage the film - OK, let the conspiracy theories begin - and end there) the Weinstein Co. announced Tuesday that it will open the film in New York on Friday, a week earlier than originally scheduled, and provide sneak previews in 43 theaters in virtually all the top 30 markets. It will face another strong "message" film -- A Mighty Heart, starring Angelina Jolie as the wife of slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. A standing ovation followed the screening of Sicko at its New York premiere on Monday. Mixed reviews followed on Tuesday. Jack Mathews in the New York Daily News called it "Moore's most assured, least antagonistic and potentially most important film" to date. Gene Seymour in Newsday commented, "What's most striking about Sicko is how composed, even serene it is compared with Michael Moore's previous acts of cinematic insurgency." But the New York Post's lively conservative critic Kyle Smith called it "political slapstick that could have been made by a third Farrelly brother or a fourth Stooge." Watch the "Sicko" trailer!
Rosie O'Donnell
Next Hostess of
The Price Is Right?
Probably!
June 20, 2007
Wild About Movies was the first website in the world to bring you the news that Rosie O'Donnell was a contender for the next host of The Price Is Right (2006 Blog) and we're this much closer to believing our source was right - seven months ago. Bob Barker
disclosed that O'Donnell was being considered for the job when he met with reporters following Friday night's Daytime Emmy Awards.
Barker was quoted as saying
"There's no doubt in my mind she could do the show. She told me she loved The Price Is Right and wanted to host it one day." And perhaps Ross the Intern as the new announcer?
If O'Donnell (who somewhat resembles the late announcer, Johnny Olson), does get the job, we can just picture it: "Imogene. Where is she? Get down here you fat fuck and bid on this refrigerator!"
Just think, if O'Donnell, who is forty-five, manages to last 35 years as host of TPIR, she would still be younger than Bob Barker was when he retired; eighty-three. However, O'Donnell will look a LOT more like (a fatter) Johnny Olson, as the years progress.

Angelina Jolie:
The Hypocrite
June 16, 2007
Fox News entertainment columnist Roger Friedman has accused Angelina Jolie of being "a mighty hypocrite" by appearing in a movie, "A Mighty Heart," championing freedom of the press while demanding that interviewers sign a contract barring them from asking questions about her personal life and warning them that if they do they can expect her to walk out. Friedman also reported that Jolie instructed her publicists to ban Fox News from the red carpet of the premiere of her movie, "A Mighty Heart," which concerns the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl by Islamic terrorists (told from the viewpoint of Pearl's wife, Mariane, played by Jolie). It's scheduled to open next week. "It was only with the intervention of mortified Paramount staff that an FNC camera crew was allowed to be present," Friedman wrote. Asked whether Larry King agreed to sign the contract before interviewing Jolie Thursday night, a CNN spokesperson told the TVNewser website, "Larry King does not agree to ground rules for any guest, any interview, ever." Earlier this month, eyebrows were raised when Jolie was interviewed for an Dateline NBC special in which co-host Ann Curry talked to her extensively about her relationship with her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who recently died, but failed even to mention her father, Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight, from whom she is estranged. Wild About Movies has interviewed Jolie countless times, without incident. In fact, the first time we interviewed her, nearly a decade ago, she wore a vile of blood around her neck on a necklace, proclaiming her everlasting love for Billy Bob Thornton. (It was his blood in the vile.) Needless to say, the relationship didn't last, and neither did the vile of blood around her neck.
TONIGHT
8/7C FINAL EPISODE
THE PRICE IS RIGHT
June 15, 2007
For all you nostalgia fans, sadly, today is the final episode of The Price Is Right, hosted by Bob Barker. For 35 years Barker has given away over $700 million in prizes after people have "Come On Down." He has lasted through three annoucers, the late Johnny Olson (died in 1985) and the late Rod Roddy (died in 2003). There is no word if current host Rich Field will continue on as The Price Is Right starts up again this fall on CBS with a new, as of yet, undetermined host. If you missed the daytime version, today, fret not. Tonight at 8EST/7C, CBS repeats the final episode that aired earlier today. Make sure you tape it or TiVo it as it is a keeper.
Projectionist/Critic
Chastised By 20th Century Fox & Theater
For Nasty Review of "Fantastic Four 2"
June 15, 2007
A Memphis theater projectionist has been suspended for writing an early -- and negative -- review of Fantastic Four 2 that appeared on the website Ain't It Cool News last Saturday. Jesse Morrison, who attends the University of Memphis, told the Hollywood Reporter that on Monday, he was called into a meeting with Malco Theatres executive Jimmy Tashie, who, he claims, told him that "20th Century Fox called them that morning and threatened to take away the press and trade screenings because of this whole thing. They were upset." Tashie told the trade publication that Fox did not demand that Morrison be fired, but he acknowledged that they had phoned to complain about an employee writing reviews in advance. "No one asked us to do anything. We have been in business 95 years, and this is the first time anything like this happened. And this boy knew what he was doing was the wrong thing. ... He was in a position of trust and he violated that trust."
As a fellow critic, who worked at the Copley Theater in Boston from 1987-1990, I find this outrageous. Granted, I wrote for my highschool paper at the time, but remember after attending a Robocop 3 screening, I was 'banned' from all promotional, press and trade screenings because I had written a bad review of the movie, that at most, 1,000 people had read. Only until Peter Guber's brother Charlie, a friend of my family, stepped in and talked to the local advertising agency was I added back to the press screening list - but told that I was to never attend a trade screening again, because 'they are not for critics.'
Trade screenings, are held especially for bookers and owners of movie theaters, well in advance of press screenings.
What's ironic is that the trade people, those who were invited to and that attended trade screenings, were allowed into 'press screenings' if they happened to have missed a trade screening, without a bat of the eye by the movie studio publicists. But god forbid if any movie critic, even that late David Brudnoy, tried to sneak into a trade screening.
Thankfully, for me, an avid movie lover, someone who, especially as a teen, wanted to see Rain Man, Mississippi Burning and Child's Play, well before the critic's screenings, I was friends with the manager of the theater I worked at and at which the movies screened for the trade. All I needed to do was sit up in the projection booth, on a tall stool, or stand, and watch the movie while the thousands of feet of film unspooled from one tray to another.
Unfortunately, The Copley Place theater in Boston was demolished two years ago, and trade screenings were moved to the Showcase Randolph theater - about 20 miles away. And in the Copley Place Theater's space? A Barneys of New York. There are certainly many ghosts of movies past floating around in that space, today!
Sopranos
Not Dead On Final Night
June 14, 2007
Although HBO can be seen in fewer than a third of U.S. households, its telecast of the final episode of The Sopranos was watched by more people than any other program on the air Sunday night -- 11.9 million. In fact it was watched by more people than any other program aired by the broadcast networks for the whole of last week, except the top-rated show, NBC's America's Got Talent. It was not, however, the most-viewed episode of the mob drama. The season-four premiere in Sept. 2002 attracted 13.4 million, and the closing episode that year attracted 12.5 million. The 2004 premiere was also watched by more than the finale's -- 12.1 million.
Will "The Sopranos" become a feature film? Wild About Movies is betting its site on it! Look for it in theaters in 2010.
Joshua Jackson:
From Gay to "Fletch"
June 13, 2007
Former Dawson's Creek actor Joshua Jackson, who played it gay in the 1999 hit "Cruel Intentions" (opposite Ryan Phillipe and Reese Witherspoon), has beaten some of Hollywood's biggest names to land the title role in "Fletch Won." Jackson will play investigative reporter Irwin 'Fletch' Fletcher, a part made famous by Chevy Chase in the 1985 comedy "Fletch" and its 1989 follow-up "Fletch Lives." Among the actors previously linked to the role: Oscar nominee Brad Pitt, Jason Lee, Ryan Reynolds and Zach Braff.
In our mind's eye, we never could have seen Brad Pitt in the lead.
With D-lister Jackson as the star and D-list (at best) director Steve Pink (who helmed the absolutely dreadful 2006 film "Accepted"), behind the camera, the movie is bound to become a hit of Chevy proportions.
Word has it Chevy Chase has refused to appear in a cameo.
"Grey Gardens"
From Film To Broadway Musical To Film Musical
Ala "The Producers" and "Hairspray"
June 12, 2007
One of the best documentaries ever filmed, the 70s shocker "Grey Gardens, was turned into a Broadway musical starring Christine Ebersol
as 'Little' Edith Bouvier Beale and Mary Louise Wilson as
'Big' Edith Bouvier Beale. (Yes, Bouvier, as in Jackie Bouvier Kennedy-Onassis!) And its two stars, mother-daughter team (as actresses) Wilson and Ebersol stole both the lead and supporting Tony's Sunday night from all of their competitors.
Word, is, since the play was such a Tony success, Hollywood is greenlighting the movie remake - this time a musical, as was the stage production - but sans Tony winning actresses Wilson and Ebersol.
Who is attached to play 'Little" Edie? Well, the real life ditz Drew Barrymore. (If she inhabits the role, she just may win her first Oscar!) And as the hyesterically demented old tart 'Big' Edie? Oscar winner Jessica Lange.
Look for the film remake, based on the Broadway musical to hit theaters either this Christmas (for Oscar consideration) or Christmas of 2008. We're betting on a Christmas 2008 release, as the film has yet to start rolling, under the direction of first timer Michael Sucsy, a dashing thirty-something, who won a nomination at the 2003 Cannes Film Fest as Young Director of the Year!
What A Difference A Weekend Can Make!
Paris Hilton: "God Meant This For Me"
June 11, 2007
Paris Hilton believes her jail sentence was a message from God to change her party-loving lifestyle and become a positive role model for women who look up to her. In her first interview since she was dramatically sent back to prison last Friday for probation violation in a drink-driving case, Hilton said her imprisonment has served as a life-changing wake-up call. Her comments were made to veteran television journalist Barbara Walters in a phone-call from the hospital facility of the Los Angeles jail where the heiress to the Hilton hotel empire is being held. "I'm not the same person I was," Walters quoted Hilton as saying on her ABC television program 'The View' on Monday. "I used to act dumb. It was an act. I am 26 years old, and that act is no longer cute. It is not who I am, nor do I want to be that person for the young girls who looked up to me."Walters said Hilton -- who was reported to be under heavy medication amid concerns for her mental health -- sounded "tired but totally aware of what she was saying."Hilton has said she will not appeal the decision to send her back to prison to serve her 45-day term. She was controversially released after spending only three days behind bars last week, sparking a public outcry and prompting Los Angeles judge Michael Sauer to order her back to jail. Hilton, who was dragged sobbing and wailing from court on Friday, suggested she intends to give up her lifestyle of endless VIP parties, red carpets and pursuing the limelight upon her release. "I know now that I can make a difference, that I have the power to do that. I have been thinking that I want to do different things when I am out of here," she said. "I have become much more spiritual. God has given me this new chance." Hilton said her new-found spirituality had led her to believe that her jail stint was meant to be. "I feel that the purpose of my life is to be where I am," Hilton told Walters. "My spirit or soul did not like the way I was being seen and that is why I was sent to jail. God has released me." Hilton said she was considering pursuing work to raise awareness about breast cancer or multiple sclerosis. Walters also said Hilton had mentioned trying to persuade toy companies to manufacture a Paris Hilton playhouse which could be donated to sick children. Hilton meanwhile described her first days behind bars as a "horrible experience," revealing that she had not eaten or slept at all. "I was severely depressed and felt as if I was in a cage," she said. The primped and pampered celebutante also revealed that her beauty regimen had suffered since her incarceration, saying her skin was dehydrated because of a ban on moisturizer. "It doesn't matter," Hilton said, "I'm not that superficial girl. I haven't looked in the mirror since I got here."
We'll look back in about 2 months, a month after Paris Hilton's release from jail, to see if she meant a word of anything she babbled to Walters, via, we might add, a collect phone call.
26 Year Old Paris Hilton
Cries Out "MOM"
As She Heads Back To Jail
June 9, 2007
Paris Hilton's release (from jail) was premature. Yesterday morning, from her LA mansion, she was tossed into the back of a police cruiser, handcuffed, and zipped back to court with an order to return her to the local pen for another month. Will she get another 'rash?' 3:05 PM EST. (The judge ordered Paris Hilton be sent back to the slammer to sit, sleep, wail and sob away the remainder of her forty-five day sentence.) After this horrid news, Paris screamed, shaking uncontrollably, "IT'S NOT RIGHT," and called out to the audience, "MOM!" Check back often. We will keep you updated as things progress, rashes, included.
Paris Hilton: Back to Jail?
Check Back Later This Morning!
June 8, 2007
Paris Hilton's release from jail may not last. Hours after she was sent home under house arrest Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition, the judge who put her in jail for violating her reckless-driving probation ordered her into court to decide if she should go back behind bars. Hilton must report to court at 9 a.m. Friday, Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini told The Associated Press. "My understanding is she will be brought in in a sheriff's vehicle from her home," Parachini said. The celebrity inmate was sent home from the Los Angeles County jail's Lynwood lockup shortly after 2 a.m. in a stunning reduction to her original 45-day sentence. She had reported to jail Sunday night after attending the MTV Movie Awards. She was ordered to finish her sentence under house arrest, meaning she could not leave her four-bedroom, three-bath home in the Hollywood Hills until next month. Check back later this morning for new pics of Paris and to find out if she's going back to the Hanoi Hilton.
PARIS HILTON
OUT OF JAIL
June 7, 2007
This just in: Paris Hilton is out of jail after just 5 days of being in the slammer. According to the AP, Paris Hilton was released from a Los Angeles County jail early Thursday because of an unspecified medical problem - (which some are claiming is a rash. Just where, we're not sure. But you know that those prison guards can carry an array of diseases around) - and will fulfill the remainder of her sentence for probation violation in home confinement, a sheriff's spokesman said. The 26-year-old hotel heiress was sent home shortly after 2 a.m. wearing an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet, sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
Hilton was sentenced to 45 days for violating her probation in a reckless driving case, but had been expected to serve 23 days in jail because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behavior. She ended up spending three full days at the all-women's facility in Lynwood, but because she checked in late Sunday and left early Thursday, authorities credited her with five days of time served. She'll be confined to her Hollywood Hills home for 40 days.

Paris Hilton
Not Getting Hilton Hotel Treatment in Jail
June 7, 2007
Paris Hilton is struggling after a little over five days in jail, sobbing to family members over the phone and complaining she isn't sleeping or eating. The heiress has served less than a week of her 23 day sentence for violating her parole following a 2006 drink-driving arrest. But, according to reports, the 26-year-old is close to crumbling. Sources from the jail (guards) say she has no appetite and is struggling to sleep in her noisy and "freezing cell" with just three small blankets and no pillow. Hilton's fellow inmates have extended her a warm welcome according to the sources, who claim other prisoners chanted "Paris! Paris! Paris!" as she passed them - as well as offering her gifts and words of support. FYI - Paris is in secluded, in a private cell, because she is a 'celebrity.' Even Martha Stewart had to do arts and crafts and cook in jail. Paris, according to our sources, has no daily tasks. We also hear that Paris, whose cell phone was put in a plastic bag containing her 'personal belongings' upon arrival at the jail, had no idea how to make a 'collect' phone call. Our spies at the jail said they had to explain to Hilton the procedure. (In jail, for those of you who have never been, the pay phones do not allow for coin deposits. One picks up the phone and listens to a recording, and dials a number, says their name, first and last, and the phone rings to the number called. On the other end, a recording, to the recipient, asks if they would like to 'accept the charges from the jail.' At least, for now, people are accepting Paris Hilton's calls. But, keep in mind, calls from jail pay phones do not patch through to cell phone numbers. So, all of Paris Hilton's friends and family need to be 'waiting' by their land line phones for her calls.) To shed an extra tear, well, go rent her dreadful movie, "House of Wax." Her first and most likely last ever Hollywood film. If you're desperate, feel free to download the "Paris Hilton Porn Video" - yes, if you are one of the one-in-two who have not yet seen it.
Frost/Nixon
From Tonys To Oscars?
Via Ron Howard!
June 6, 2007
Kevin Bacon has joined Frank Langella in the upcoming film version of stage play "Frost/Nixon." "Frost/Nixon" is a dramatic reenactment of U.S. President Richard Nixon's famed 1977 TV interview with David Frost, and has wowed audiences in both London's West End and on Broadway. Langella (nominated for a Best Actor Tony - the Tony's are this Sunday, 10 June), and Michael Sheen are reprising their stage roles as Nixon and Frost respectively in the film adaptation, to be directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard. Bacon will play Nixon's chief of staff Jack Brennan.
"Gone With The Wind"
Heading To Broadway - Musical Style
June 5, 2007
A musical adaptation of Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With The Wind," to be directed by Trevor Nunn, will open in London's West End in April 2008 with tickets to go on sale in September. It will eventually, if successful in London, make its way stateside to Broadway. Nunn is regarded as one of the top theatrical directors of recent times. His credits include Les Misérables, Cats, Starlight Express, Nicholas Nickleby, and Sunset Boulevard. A press release stated that the "Gone With The Wind" production, featuring music and lyrics by unknown composer Margaret Martin, has been in development for three years. It quoted producer Aldo Scrofani as saying that it would "remain true to Margaret Mitchell's original story and characters while also revealing its relevance to our lives today." No word yet on how damn long the musical version will clock in at. The 1939 movie adaptation of Mitchell's book is the most successful movie of all time when one factors in tickets sold, and not box office receipts.
My Heart Will Go On And On...
June 4, 2007
It's hard to believe that it has been TEN years since Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet graced the big screen with their presence in James Cameron's "Titanic." (Or that James Cameron hasn't made a major movie since!). Well, we have some Kate & Leo news. They are teaming up again, beginning shooting this week in Connecticut, in Sam Mendes 1950s period soap, "Revolutionary Road." Frank and April Wheeler (DiCaprio and Winslet), purchase a new home from Mrs. Givings (Kathy Bates), who introduces them to the town. During the couple's stay, their relationship begins to fall apart due to arguing and jealousy. The movie is based on the Richard Yates novel. We wonder, though, if DiCaprio/Winslet relationship, now reincarnated, will "go on and on."
Disney NOT So Dirty?
You Decide!
June 3, 2007
The Walt Disney Company on Thursday denied a report that it plans to release Badder Santa: The Unrated Version on high-definition video in November. The report had appeared on several websites, including this one. Coming in the wake of Disney's announcement that it plans to abandon its "Buena Vista" banner corporate-wide, the report generated particular interest since it appeared that an unrated movie would be distributed under the Disney name for the first time. However, a Disney spokesman said Thursday that no "new official name" for the company's video distribution unit had been announced and that for the time being it will remain Buena Vista Home Entertainment.
Ratted Out At Regal
June 2, 2007
A device being handed out to select patrons at 144 Regal theaters, including Regal Fenway in Boston, that will summon a manager if fellow patrons disturb them has received a mostly positive reception in its initial roll-out, published reports said yesterday. The device, labeled a Guest Response System, can also alert management if a problem occurs with the picture or sound or if someone is spotted camcording a movie. But one moviegoer told the Boston Herald, "[GRS] isn't going to stop disturbances from occurring. ... You'll only accomplish making a bigger disturbance when the theater staff come to 'fix the problem.'" Meanwhile, New York Magazine has suggested the addition of several other buttons on the device, including one labeled, "Plot/Cinematography."
Dirty Disney
May 31, 2007
Only days after renaming its home video division to Disney Home Entertainment, the Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that it intends to release Badder Santa: The Unrated Version on November 20 in HD DVD and Blu-ray. In the past, Disney has gone to great lengths to make sure that the Disney name did not appear above any releases that did not reflect the wholesome, family-oriented viewpoint of the company's founder. However, the 2003 Billy Bob Thornton movie inarguably contains the raunchiest language ever delivered in a Christmas movie, and the "unrated" version includes deleted scenes that magnifies the scatological nature of the film. The film, released in high-definition formats at Christmas time may also confuse parents who see the names "Disney" and "Santa" on the cover of the packaging, along with the name of the film's co-star, the late John Ritter.
We think even the late, frozen, maybe to be ressurected Walt would even agree: Anything for a buck. That's the Hollywood way, at least. Cutting out your own mother's liver if it would mean your movie would make an extra $1 on opening day.
Lindsay Lohan:
Sharing A Cell with Paris?
May 30, 2007
Lindsay Lohan's representatives have addressed the actress' return to rehab, pleading with the press to "respect her privacy." The 20-year-old, (the booze bag turns 21 on July 2, 2007), who was arrested for driving under the influence (for the umpteempth time) on Saturday, after crashing her Mercedes in Beverly Hills, entered the Promises clinic in Malibu on Monday - a day earlier than previously thought. A statement from her publicist was circulated... "Lindsay admitted herself to an intensive medical rehabilitation facility on Memorial Day. Because this is a medical matter, it is our hope that the press will appreciate the seriousness of the situation and respect the privacy of Lindsay as well as the other patients receiving treatment at the facility." Earlier this year, the star of the bomb, Georgia Rule, received treatment at rehab clinic the Wonderland Center in Hollywood. We wonder if she may end up sharing a cell with fellow drunk, loser, hag, Paris Hilton, who is off to jail next week to serve time for drunken driving...

Charles Nelson Reilly
Dead At 76
May 29, 2007
Before Sean Hayes swished across television screens, making wanting a raging queen to be your best friend every straight person's secret fantasy, Charles Nelson Reilly was queening it up on television's long running 70s game show, "The Match Game." Charles Nelson Reilly, who before "The Match Game," won a Tony Award for "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying," has died.
Reilly died Friday in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia, his partner, Patrick Hughes, told the New York Times. Reilly began his career in New York City, taking acting classes at a studio with Steve McQueen, Geraldine Page and Hal Holbrook. In 1962, he appeared on Broadway as Bud Frump in the original Broadway production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." The role won Reilly a Tony Award.
Reilly's openly gay television persona was ahead of its time, and sometimes stood in his way. He recalled a network executive telling him "they don't let queers on television." Hughes, his only immediate survivor, said Reilly had been ill for more than a year.

For over eleven hours of non-stop continous "Match Game" laughs...run out or log on to Ebay, Barnes & Noble or Amazon to purchase your, “The Best of Match Game” DVD Box Set, which features 30 of the show’s greatest episodes, uncut and digitally transferred from their original masters. The series not only reminds people of the days before political correctness hit the airwaves, but is also a nostalgic look back at bawdy humor, as well as the plaid-panted, brightly colored disco fueled fashion of “Me Decade.” Plus, all the fan favorites from that era are featured, including Charles Nelson Reilly, Betty White, Fannie Flagg, Avery Schreiber, Elaine Joyce and the Prince of pontificating poetry, Nipsey Russell. Additional celebrity guest stars include Michael Landon, Jack Klugman, William Shatner, Vicki Lawrence, Mama Cass, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gary Burghoff and Kirstie Alley.
What Wild About Movies wonders... is... what is inscribed on Charles Nelson Reilly's tombstone? We know he's resting in peace but can't even begin to imagine what he had planned.
Perhaps: Charles Nelson Reilly was so gay that he was the first gay person to (BLANK) on national television.

Martin Scorsese Goes To Japan
For Next Hopeful Oscar Winning Film
May 26, 2007
Martin Scorsese has disclosed that he is planning to direct a movie, set in 17th-century Japan, that may have implications related to the war in Iraq. In an interview with the Associated Press at the Cannes film festival, Scorsese said that his film, Silence, based on the novel of the same name by Shusaku Endo and William Johnston about Portuguese Christian missionaries who arrived in Japan in feudal times, has parallels to America's role in Iraq. The Oscar-winning director (The Departed) said that he hopes to shoot the film in Japan, at least partially, beginning next summer. "It raises a lot of questions about foreign cultures coming in and imposing their way of thinking on another culture they know nothing about," Scorsese said.

Directors that came and went included Steven Spielberg and Chuck Russell.
From Grindhouse to "Barbarella" Remake
May 23, 2007
Robert Rodriguez has signed on to direct Barbarella, a new feature adaptation of the classic sci-fi comic book series that Universal Pictures is fast-tracking for a 2008 worldwide release. The character was immortalized in a 1968 movie starring Jane Fonda. Dino De Laurentiis, who produced the original film, will produce the update with Martha De Laurentiis. Barbarella tells the story of a female mercenary who roams across the universe of a distant future, undertaking missions that require physical fearlessness, ingenuity and sensuality. The character debuted in 1962 in a French graphic magazine written and illustrated by Jean-Claude Forest and was known for her many adventures, often involving sex. There also was a musical produced in 2004. According to reports, Robert Rodriguez said, "Dino De Laurentiis came to me and said, ' Barbarella is a world where you are completely free to unleash all your fantasies, creativity and imagination -- where the possibilities are limitless, ' "I love this iconic character and all that she represents, and I'm truly excited by the challenge of inviting a new audience into her universe."

Warner Bros. Bans Free Advance Movie Screenings in Canada: Other Studios To Follow Suit?
May 9, 2007
Following reports that many -- if not most -- new movie releases are camcorded in Canada, then reproduced and pirated abroad, Warner Bros. announced Monday that it will no longer hold preview screenings in Canadian cities. In a statement, Warner Bros. distribution chief Dan Fellman said, "We regret having to cancel our screenings in Canada, but our studio must take steps to protect not only our branded assets but our commitment to our filmmakers and to our distributors." Twentieth Century Fox has indicated that it may go one step further, the delay of opening films in Canada unless the country passes legislation that would ban camcording in theaters.
Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones"
Movie In Theaters 2009
May 8, 2007
Peter Jackson's adaptation of the Alice Sebold novel "The Lovely Bones" has found a home at Dreamworks. Dreamworks acquired the package late Friday, beating out Warner Bros. Pictures, Sony Pictures and Universal Pictures. "The Lovely Bones", which went out to the town last Monday, generated a lot of heat because of Jackson's name but came under intense scrutiny for the way it was being sent to market. Jackson and his team shopped the script with a budget in the $80 million range, complete with a start of production date and, uniquely, a focus on marketing. Integral to the deal were conversations about release dates and what other films the winning company will have in the same quarter, because Jackson wanted to know how time and attention will be divided between his movie and others. Dreamworks acquired the package with Film 4, which originally acquired the project, then developed it with Jackson. Jackson will direct the supernatural drama from a screenplay he co-wrote with Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh, his co-writers on King Kong and the The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
"The Lovely Bones," a blockbuster, best selling novel, first published in 2002,
is the story of a 14-year-old girl from suburban Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbor. She tells the story from Heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.
Check back soon to find out who has been signed to star in the film. Our money is on Dakota Fanning. Or Abigail Breslin.
Liv Tyler Assuming Jennifer Connelly Role
May 5, 2007
Liv Tyler, daughter of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, will star opposite Edward Norton in Marvel Studios' The Incredible Hulk, signing on to play Betty Ross, the longtime love interest of Dr. Bruce Banner/the Hulk. Louis Leterrier is directing the movie, which is being produced by Avi Arad, Gale Anne Hurd and Kevin Feige. Ross, a classic Hulk character from the comic book's beginning in 1962, is Banner's fellow scientist and an ally in his quest to rid him of his lurking monster deep inside. The movie will unfold with Ross estranged from Banner (Norton), but with the pursuit of the Hulk heating up and Banner on the run trying to cure his condition, Ross finds herself swept back into his life. Jennifer Connelly played the character in the 2003 movie Hulk, directed by Ang Lee. Filming on the new Hulk is slated to begin in the summer in Toronto. Universal Pictures is distributing.

"2007 MTV Movie Awards"
May 2, 2007
The awards aren't announced until June 3rd, but the movies won't be out until weeks, some months, after. What movies? The movies nominated in the "Best Summer Movie You Haven't Seen Yet" category of the 2007 MTV Movie Awards. Sarah Silverman will be the hostess.
The biggest box office hit of 2007, thus far, 300, and the second Pirates, Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest are leading the nominations for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards with five and four nods apiece. Both films have been nominated for the Best Movie award, alongside Blades Of Glory, Borat and Little Miss Sunshine. 300 star Gerard Butler is up for Best Performance and Best Fight, while Lena Headey and Rodrigo Santoro have been nominated for Breakthrough Performance and Best Villain, respectively. Pirates Of The Caribbean 2actors Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley have also both picked up nods for Best Performance, while Bill Nighy is up for Best Villain.
Don't get us started on how foolish the awards are - trust us, no one in the film industry gives a rat's ass - and more importantly, why there are movies from both 2006 and 2007 nominated!

"Jamie Bell Naked"
Jamie Bell Takes Over For Daniel Radcliffe in Equus
May 1, 2007

"Billy Elliot," Jamie Bell, has grown up just as fast as "Harry Potter." Actually, faster. The twenty-one year old British lad, Jamie Bell, is a full four years older than "Harry Potter's" Daniel Radcliffe, and is assuming the role on the stage in London's West End, after Radcliffe puts on his pants for the last time - sometime late summer 2007.
Jamie Bell naked - That is the headline, today! No pictures, yet. But as soon as they are available, www.wildaboutmovies.com will be here, as we were with the naked pictures of Daniel Radcliffe - on stage in Equus.

The biggest question, here in the United States, is --- who will drop trou if and when the current production of Equus makes its way to Broadway???
Will the production want to stick with a young, naked Brit, for 'integrity' sake? We can't picture, (nor do we want to), the sight of Haley Joel Osment naked, on stage, even if he is now nineteen!
Spiderman 3
Debuts May 3
At Midnight
April 30, 2007
Have to see Spiderman 3 on Thursday night, twelve hours before everyone else plays hooky for the afternoon? Sony Pictures is adding numerous midnight screenings of Spiderman 3, Thursday night (technically Friday at one minute past midnight). In some megaplexes where a single print can be spooled out from one projection booth to another, the movie is being released on several screens virtually at the same time. Watch the Spiderman 3 trailer, now, and read our interviews with Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Sam Raimi... (continue)
17 Uses of "Fuck"
Yet, PG-13 Rating
April 29, 2007

Despite 17 uses of the word "fuck," the MPAA's Ratings Review Board gave a PG-13 rating to ThinkFilm's documentary "The Hip Hop Project" after its R rating was appealed by director Matt Ruskin and the film's rapper subject, Chris Kazi Rolle. The film, executive produced by Bruce Willis and Queen Latifah, follows the once-homeless rapper as he helps a group of poor New York teens deal with their frustrations by making a hip-hop album. "The Hip Hop Project" follows their four-year journey, including studio time funded by Willis and producer Russell Simmons. Six of the panel's eight members agreed to change the rating, which was issued for the film's language. "We decided to appeal the R rating to allow teenagers access to see this film because they are the ones who need it most," said Rolle, founder of the offscreen Hip Hop Project. "After years of working with teens, I know you have to reach them when they are young. Just as I didn't have a parent to take me to the movies when I was a teenager, many of the young people who would benefit most from this film would have been denied access if the R rating stood." Ruskin told the board, "This motion picture is a call to end the destructive forces of violence, misogyny and criminality that dominate the music our children are listening to." It doesn't seem, however, that there was ever any intention of the director editing the foul language out of the film.
In a recent statement from his Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, Simmons called for the elimination of the words 'nigger,' "ho" and "bitch" in rap lyrics. Seems, though, that 'fuck' is all by itself. No one really gives a fuck, anymore, about the word that once was considered the most vulgar in the English language.
Jack Valenti Dead At 85
April 27, 2007
Jack Valenti, a former presidential aide who became Hollywood's emissary to Washington and developer of the U.S. movie rating system, died on Thursday at age 85, his longtime spokesman, Warren Cowan, of Hollywood PR firm Rogers and Cowan, said. Valenti served as an aide to President Lyndon Johnson before heading the Motion Picture Association of America as the movie industry's No. 1 lobbyist for 38 years. He retired in August 2004.
Drew Barrymore
People Magazine's
"MOST BEAUTIFUL"
April 26, 2007
We're not insinuating that she's ugly. She's far from it. But she, Drew Barrymore, is hardly 'the' most beautiful woman, in or out of Hollywood. Drew Barrymore was born with her acting family's classic beauty, but she credits her fun-loving approach to life for her No. 1 spot on People magazine's annual "100 Most Beautiful People" list. "I just think happiness is what makes you pretty. Period," she tells the magazine. "Happy people are beautiful. They become like a mirror and they reflect that happiness." Barrymore, 32, graces the cover of the issue that hits newsstands tomorrow. It's her fourth time on the list, but first as cover girl.
Paula Abdul:
A Hissy Bitch
April 25, 2007
American Idol judge Paula Abdul reportedly threw a "diva-like" tantrum while boarding an airplane recently, telling fellow passengers she was "too famous" to wait in line. Abdul was boarding a Southwest Airlines flight from San Jose to Burbank, California, when she allegedly demanded to be given special treatment and board the aircraft first. Eyewitnesses claim the star pushed her way to the front of a line of waiting passengers as one disgruntled commuter shouted, "You're no Sanjaya (American Idol contestant popular for his lack of talent)! You have to board like everyone else." A source tells The Scoop, "She pulled a major diva trip. The other passengers were not amused. She asked to be let on the plane and seated first." Abdul's spokesman has refused to comment...
"Disturbia" Retains #1 Spot at Box Office - For Second Straight Weekend
April 24, 2007
A gaggle of new movies opened in theaters this past weekend, but none could unseat Shia LaBeouf's Disturbia from the #1 spot. Disturbia becomes the fifth movie of 2007 to retain the #1 spot at the box office for a second consecutive weekend. The best any newcomer could do was #2. That honor went to the Ryan Gosling and Anthony Hopkins thriller Fracture. At #3, another film that formerly took the #1 spot at the box office for its first two weekends, Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder. Vacancy, Hot Fuzz and In The Land of Women, all had to settle for lower spots in the Top 10. For the complete list... (continue)
Tobey Maguire - "Spiderman 3"
April 23, 2007
Three of the biggest movies of the past decade - "Shrek," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Spiderman" - see the third in their series in release this May, in theaters. Spiderman 3 has the honor of being the first out of the gate, May 4th. Will it be the best of the Spiderman franchise, thusfar, and/or the biggest movie at the box office this year? What we know for sure is that Tobey Maguire is ready to step back into the Spiderman suit for sequels 4, 5 and 6. Maguire untangled his newest spider's web, his third, for Wild About Movies this past weekend in Los Angeles... (continue)
Blockbuster Gaining on Netflix
April 21, 2007
Netflix saw its shares tumble nearly 10 percent this week after saying that it expects to end up with about 7.3 million subscribers by the end of the year, 13 percent fewer than it had forecast in January. Shares in the company have fallen 26 percent over the past year. Netflix apparently was hit hard by a rival service from Blockbuster that allows customers to receive movies in the mail, then exchange them in Blockbuster stores.
Cannes 2007
April 20, 2007
The Cannes Film Festival confirmed yesterday that Wong Kar Wai's My Blueberry Nights, starring Jude Law, Ed Harris, Norah Jones and Natalie Portman, will open the 60th annual festival on May 16. In something of a surprise, the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez "double bill" Grindhouse, which was expected to compete for the top Palme d'Or prize, will only be represented by the Tarantino half of the feature, Death Proof, which is being expanded to one hour and 50 minutes. (Wild About Movies, previously, brought you the news that Harvey Weinstein will be rereleasing the "double bill" Grindhouse film, "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror," as separate feature films, later this year.)
Among the other 21 films selected for the competition are the Coen Brothers' No Country for Old Men, starring Josh Brolin, Tommy Lee Jones, and Javier Bardem; David Fincher's Zodiac, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr.; James Gray's We Own the Night, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg; and Gus Van Sant's Paranoid Park, starring mostly first-time actors. Serbian director Emir Kusturica, a two-time winner at Cannes and the chairman of the jury in 2005, will again be represented in the competition with the comedy Promise Me This. Among films screening out of competition will be Michael Moore's documentary Sicko (about the U.S. health system); Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's Thirteen; Michael Winterbottom's A Mighty Heart, starring Angelina Jolie as the late Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl's wife Mariane; and Ken Burns's The War. The latter film will presumably be compiled from Burns's upcoming documentary series about World War II for PBS. It is the only film on the Cannes list whose length is not indicated.
Antonio Banderas Bombs on "American Idol"
April 19, 2007
It was bad enough (we're just kidding) that Sanjaya was voted off "American Idol" last night, but why in Shrek's green earth did Dreamworks partner with American Idol to promote their potential box office hit - in theaters May 18th, and register for Free Screenings, now!!! - and have the not only ugly and incompetent, but aging Latin has-been who never-was as their spokesman Antonio Banderas on Idol last night? Ryan Seacrest simply asked Banderas, "When is Shrek 3 in theaters." We know Banderas's first language is far from English, but he must be able to differentiate May from June. "It's in theaters this June," he chimed. Yes, it will most likely STILL be in theaters during the month of June but it hits theaters May 18th. Dreamworks co-CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, we could see, who was sitting a few seats away from Banderas, was dying to slap him across the face and set the record straight, as Seacrest could also determine. But Seacrest didn't let Katzenberg get a word in edgewise. We're pretty even though Banderas makes Shrek look like Einstein, his major screw up won't have any effect on Shrek's box office potential - May 18th...
Eric Bana Goes Back & Time
April 18, 2007
While Eric Bana lost out to Edward Norton for The Hulk follow up, Bana and Rachel McAdams will be time-challenged lovers in "The Time Traveler's Wife", New Line Cinema's adaptation of the Audrey Niffenegger novel. More a love story than a fantasy, the book tells the story of a dashing librarian (Bana) at Chicago's Newberry Library who has a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel forward and backward. During one of his episodes, he falls in love with a woman (McAdams), but the problem is that while the man's age darts back and forth depending on his location in time, the woman's progresses in a normal manner; thus, the two are often out of sync. Sound like the recent Sandra Bullock stinkers "The Lake House" and "Premonition?" We think so, but somehow Eric Bana going back and forth in time sounds a lot more exciting...
"The Hulk Movie" Revisited:
With Edward Norton In the Green Suit
April 17, 2007
We're not quite sure why the movie, "The Hulk," is getting remade. The movie that Ang Lee made before his Oscar winning "Brokeback Mountain" was "The Hulk," with Eric Bana starring as the Green monster. Universal Pictures announced that they have signed Edward Norton, of all people, to play "The Hulk," in what they are 'officially' calling a sequel to the Eric Bana "Hulk." No one from the original returns. The film was written by Zack Penn, whose 'talent?' was behind the bomb "Elektra" and "X-Men 3." Directing this time around, relative unknown
Louis Leterrier, who helmed Jet Li's "Unleashed" and "The Transporter 2." We're betting this "Hulk Movie" will be a bigger flop than the Ang Lee/Eric Bana version. But we'll have to wait until Summer 2008 to find out how well our predictions are!
Shia LaBeouf:
Caught In A Big Lie
April 15, 2007
Shia LaBeouf's first movie of 2007, "Disturbia," (along with ten additional new films), is in theaters this weekend - and debuts at #1. But that's just the beginning. He stars in what Paramount Pictures hopes will be the biggest box office success of the summer, "Transformers The Movie," in theaters July 4th, and as the voice of Cody Maverick, in yet another animated penguin flick, "Surf's Up," also in theaters this summer. Wild About Movies first sat with LaBeouf right before the release of his Disney film, "The Greatest Game Every Played." We recently caught up with Shia LaBeouf again, and are quite confident that the former child star, (yes, he got his break in Hollywood on the Disney Channel comedy "Even Stevens"), is, well, confident in his own skin. Today we bring you our interview with LaBeouf, where he talks about "Disturbia." Tomorrow, we have a separate interview with Shia LaBeouf, in which he talks about the "Transformers Movie." Oh! We also have Shia on the record, caught lying about his upcoming role in "Indiana Jones 4"... (continue)
Grindhouse Getting Severed
April 12, 2007
Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, in his 'infinite wisdom,' (what with 9 bombs in a row at his new The Weinstein Company), is planning to re-release "Grindhouse" as two separate films - after the double-bill flopped at the box office. The film, a double-feature, "Death Proof" and "Planet Terror," directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, made just $11.6 million in its opening weekend in the US. Producer Weinstein is disappointed - and thinks Tarantino's Death Proof, starring Kurt Russell, and Rodriguez' Planet Terror, with Rose McGowan, will perform better on their own. We'll be sitting back, and laughing, when the box office for each separate release proves him wrong. Will that then make it eleven bombs in a row for The Weinstein Co?
Tom Hanks Signs on for "The DaVinci Code" Prequel: "Angels & Demons"
April 11, 2007
Since we brought you some Tom Hanks envy news yesterday (see below) about John Travolta, we thought it would be fitting to bring you some confirmed Tom Hanks news today. According to Wild About Movies spies, (a publicist in Hollywood), Tom Hanks has signed on for another go 'round as Dr. Robert Langdon in "Angels & Demons," which is the prequel to "The DaVinci Code." Expect the prequel, yes, directed by "DaVinci's" Ron Howard, to hit theaters during the summer of 2008. We truly hope that the do that Hanks ends up with for "Angels & Demons" is a little more stylish than in "DaVinci Code."
Larry Birkhead is Baby's Daddy
April 10, 2007
Howard K. Stern is out on his ass. He tried to control Anna Nicole Smith's life, and insisted that he was Baby Anna's daddy. However, today, DNA tests have conclusively proven that Larry Birkhead is the real baby's daddy. Dannielynn now has a new last name, Birkhead.
John Travolta Turned Down Oscar Winning "Forrest Gump" Role
April 10, 2007
Screen legend John Travolta, who dons a wig, heels and mumu in his next film, "Hairspray The Movie," occasionally wrestles bouts of jealousy - over Tom Hanks' career. The Saturday Night Fever hunk confessed to Wild About Movies during a recent chat that some of his biggest career mistakes were turning down roles Hanks turned into box office smashes, including an Oscar winning role. Despite his errors of judgment, the 53-year-old is content his other acting projects have made him one of Hollywood's most lovable stars. He says, "I wouldn't trade my career for anyone's except Tom Hanks,' I don't think. Other than Forrest Gump and The Green Mile, which I was offered and should have done, and Splash was written for me, I still like my career better because of what I specifically contribute to it." Travolta also turned down the role that went to Richard Gere in An Officer And A Gentleman. Travolta still has it. Read out interview with him and the rest of the cast of "Wild Hogs"... (continue)
Jared Padalecki:
Signs On For Planned Trilogy
April 9, 2007
"Gilmore Girls" and "Supernatural" television star Jared Padalecki has been cast as Thomas Kinkade alongside Peter O'Toole in Lionsgate's "The Christmas Cottage", based on the life of Kinkade and his painting of the same name. Michael Campus will direct the film, which goes into production this month in Vancouver and Whistler. Jared Padalecki will play Kinkade, one of America's most collected living artists who used his gift as an artist to portray his life-affirming values and explore the world around him. O'Toole will play a painter named Glen Wessler, based on one of Kinkade's mentors. A holiday release is planned. The film is part of an intended three-picture deal between Lionsgate and Kinkade. The next two films, also planned with Jared Padalecki as Kinkade, will be based on other paintings and reflect different points in Kinkade's life.
Sean Connery:
Starring in "Indiana Jones IV?"
April 8, 2007
Movie mogul George Lucas refuses to give up on recruiting Sean Connery for the "Indiana Jones 4" movie, despite the Scottish star's reluctance to sign on as the adventurer's father. Connery has been linked to the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie, but insists he's not that interested in reprising his role as Henry Jones from Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade. That hasn't stopped persistent Lucas, who says, "We're still trying." In other Indiana Jones casting news, Lucas admits he was stunned when director Steven Spielberg told him he wanted to sign Cate Blanchett as Jones' love interest in the new film. He tells newspaper USA Today, "That's who my director wanted and I always bow to the wishes of my director. I approved it because she seemed like a good idea. When I met her at the Academy Awards, I told her, 'Hey, you work for me now!'" Right now, check out the official "Indiana Jones 4" movie website!
Bobcat Goldthwait:
In Person - Tucson, AZ
TONIGHT ONLY
April 7, 2007
If you're nostalgic for 80s comedy, and an 80s comic icon, especially one who has achieved cult status, you're in for a treat tonight, if you live in or around Tucson, AZ. It is at "The Loft Cinema," tonight, that Bobcat Goldthwait will be introducing his latest film, "Sleeping Dogs Lie." The one-time stand-up comic has turned director. And not only of movies. Goldthwait, in his self depricating style, gives Jimmy Kimmell all of the credit for the success of the Jimmy Kimmell show, even though it took off in the ratings almost immediately as soon as Goldthwait stepped in as The Jimmy Kimmell Show director...
Wild About Movies had a long chat with the comedian and brings you the interview - later today. For the moment, get up to par on his latest film, "Sleeping Dogs Lie."

April 6, 2007

Mr. Bean's Holiday, Rowan Atkinson's latest addition to the Mr. Bean franchise, (not in U.S. theaters until August), trounced competition overseas last weekend to take in $33.3 million in 26 countries. The film earned $12.8 million in the U.K. alone in just 512 theaters - or an average of $25,000 per theater. For more about the "Mr. Bean's Holiday"...
"Sweeney Todd Movie"
Filming Commences - Again
April 5, 2007

Johnny Depp may be talking about a "Pirates of the Caribbean 4" movie but he returned to the set of the "Sweeney Todd Movie." The film is being directed by Tim Burton. Paramount Pictures, the film's distributor, will have another chance next year, we think a better one, at the 2008 Oscars, with this movie based on a Broadway musical, than they did at this year's Oscars with "Dreamgirls." For more about the "Sweeney Todd Movie"... (continue)

Pirates of the Caribbean 4?
Most Likely!
April 2, 2007
Disney is planning to keep its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise alive even after wrapping up the current trilogy with "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," which opens on May 25. According to sources, Johnny Depp has already made it known that he would like to return for another pirate adventure, and said production director Rick Heinrichs, "If Johnny's interested, why wouldn't they?" We're confident we'll know the correct answer on May 26th
Aqua Teen's April's Fool
April 1, 2007
With the "Aqua Teen" publicity department losing all credibilty with their Boston, and nationwide, prank a couple of months ago, the one that caused them to pay a fine of over $2 million to Boston Police, doesn't seem to have swayed them from playing tricks. Adult Swim channel, for a couple of weeks, has been promising that their feature film "Aqua Teen Movie...," due in theaters April 13th will be debuted on Adult Swim tonight. We hear that it's all an April Fool's joke. If you want to see the movie, you'll have to wait, save your pennies, and pay for your ticket at the movie theater box office on Friday the 13th of April. Follow Up: The movie was shown, in its entirety, albeit in a one inch by one inch corner of the channel!
"Captivity" Given A Spanking By the MPAA
March 31, 2007

The MPAA on Thursday disciplined After Dark Films for its controversial outdoor advertising campaign for the upcoming "Captivity" by imposing a monthlong suspension of the ratings process for the horror film, which has not yet been rated. The move could make it difficult for the film to bow on its scheduled release date of May 18. In an uncharacteristically harsh reprimand, the MPAA -- which had not approved After Dark's ads for general audiences -- also said that After Dark and its distribution partner, Lionsgate, will be required to clear all the "Captivity" promotional materials it uses going forward in addition to the locations and venues of all advertising buys relating to the film. It is the first time the MPAA has imposed such a sanction, though some observers questioned whether the MPAA will be able to monitor all the ad buys. While the MPAA will review After Dark's promotional materials before May 1, "Captivity" will not be eligible for consideration by the ratings board until then and will not be given priority scheduling at that time. There is no set time period for how long it takes the MPAA to issue a rating. That is dependent on the number of films lined up for a rating. The sanction doesn't give After Dark much time to recut or re-edit the film if the company is not satisfied with the initial rating issued. "The sanctions in this case are severe because this was an unacceptable and flagrant violation of MPAA rules and procedures," MPAA senior vp advertising Marilyn Gordon said.
More importantly, two-time Best Director Oscar nominee, Roland Joffé, is the director! Why? For a look at two more "Captivity" movie posters and to watch the R-rated trailer... (continue)
Mark Wahlberg and M. Night Team Up
March 30, 2007
Wild About Movies first brought you the news that M. Night Shyamalan needed to go to India to secure financing for his next movie, since his last movie, "Lady In The Water, was such a soaker. However, we have learned that Mark Wahlberg has signed on to star in M. Night's thriller "The Happening" for 20th Century Fox. Fox has grabbed June 13, 2008, as its release date. Academy Award nominee Wahlberg will play the father of a family on the run from an apocalyptic threat to humanity. Shyamalan wrote the original screenplay and will coproduce. Production is set to begin in August in Philadelphia. "The Happening" is being co-financed by Fox and India's UTV. Fox is distributing worldwide, except in India, where UTV will handle the release... Paramount Pictures' Response
To WAM Discrimination - Sort Of!
March 22, 2007
Are Brad Grey's days at Paramount numbered? We think so. It seems ALL Paramount employees are either being fired or quitting, en masse. And Brad Grey, current Paramount CEO, just may be the next to take a short walk - back. Yes, to his old stomping grounds. Brad Gray Television and Plan B productions (with Brad Pitt.) If you're a loyal friend and true of Wild About Movies, and we have over 100,000, nationwide, with the number growing exponentially each day, you are aware of the controversy surrounding Paramount Pictures, whose publicity department has been hijacked by the vile, incompetent Dreamworks transplants. Over 7,000 WAM devotees have e-mailed Paramount for the past three weeks, expressing not only their displeasure but disgust at Paramount's audacity of knocking Wild About Movies off the Paramount junket and Promotional Screening lists - because of what seems to be gay discrimination. To read the most ridiculous letter that went out to a few WAM readers yesterday, from Paramount lawyer Judy Kim - a letter only a lawyer could write, evading all important facts of the case.
From: Kim, Judy - Paramount <Judy_Kim@paramount.com>

Subject: RE: PARAMOUNT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WILD ABOUT MOVIES
To: WAM READER(S)
This will reply to your email. Paramount works with many different media outlets to support our motion pictures, and these outlets may vary from film to film. Promotional screenings are often available through various print, radio, television and online outlets, depending on the particular market and the particular film.

Toy Story 3 - In 2010
March 21, 2007
According to sources, in an appearance during Disney's annual shareholder meeting in New Orleans, John Lasseter, head of Pixar, said: "We are finally in production on 'Toy Story 3,'" adding the film is scheduled to come out in 2010. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are back on board to voice Buzz Lightyear and Woody. The screenplay is by Michael Arndt, who just won the original screenplay Academy Award for "Little Miss Sunshine," according to Lasseter, who said: "We got a great story."
And the story? From what we hear,
Buzz Lightyear is recalled to Taiwan after a series of malfunctions. Learning of a productwide recall, all the toys in Andy's room, under Woody's leadership, head to Taiwan to save Buzz from doom.
Indiana Jones 4 - UPDATE
March 19, 2007
Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventures. Shia LeBeouf also has signed on. He is one of Hollywood's hottest under 21 year old male actors right now, what with his starring roles this spring and summer in "Disturbia," "Surf's Up," "Transformers." Harrison Ford already has boarded the project, which will be produced by Lucasfilm and directed by Steven Spielberg. With David Koepp's screenplay shrouded in secrecy, it is unclear what character Blanchett will play. However, sources said the Oscar-winning actress has landed a starring role. As we reported last month, shooting will begin in June in Los Angeles and continue throughout worldwide exotic locales.
Frank Darabont's script, which had been one of the earlier drafts of "Indiana Jones 4," was not chosen as the final draft. Forty-four year old David Koepp, who wrote the screenplay of Spielberg's "War of the Worlds," and first "Jurassic Park," turned in the final "Indiana Jones 4" screenplay, based on a story by Jeff Nathanson, who has previously written "Rush Hour 2" and the upcoming "Rush Hour 3."
Piranah - Remake Or Not A Remake?
March 17, 2007
Dimension Films emailed us yesterday, pleased to announce that Alexandre Aja (“The Hills Have Eyes”) has signed on to write and direct a new “Piranha” movie, almost 30 years after the 1978 hit film of the same name. Should anyone really care? Let's see how well "The Hills Have Eyes 2" does at theaters next weekend. Fox is NOT screening the movie for critics or promotional audiences. The email went on to babble, on and on and on:
Aja’s cutting edge vision of this film is an entirely new take on the “Piranha” legacy and will certainly satisfy fans of the genre. “Piranha” takes place at Lake Havasu, Arizona, a small, scenic town whose population explodes during Spring break for fun in the sun and unpredictable desert freedom. This year there's more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from the locals. Havasu sits in a crater and when earth tremors tear open a crack in the lake floor, all hell breaks loose as ravenous razor-toothed Piranhas surface and people start to disappear…
Bob Weinstein stated, “It is really exciting to have the chance to work with Mark Canton, Marc Toberoff and Alex Aja, all of whom are extremely talented filmmakers. I am thrilled to be doing this stylized remake with fantastic new special effects and exciting set pieces. We will maintain the fun and thrilling aspects of the original film, but look forward to upping the ante with a modern-day twist.”
Alexandre Aja stated, “My goal is not to remake ‘Piranha’ but to create a completely new adventure paying homage to all the ‘creatures’ films that made me fall in love with the genre. It is the ultimate popcorn movie that pits beer soaked sunburned spring breakers against killer, bloodthirsty animals. I am very proud to follow the path of Joe Dante and James Cameron in the ‘Piranha’ franchise and look forward to working with Greg Levasseur, to write, produce and direct such a fun and gory thrill ride.”
Then why the fuck call it "Piranah" if you are NOT 'remaking' it?
M Night Shyamalan
Goes Bollywood
March 16, 2007
Director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense), whose stock in Hollywood reportedly fell through the floor following the disastrous failure of his last film, Lady in the Water, has found a Bollywood production company to help foot the bill with 20th Century Fox for a new film, The Happening, which will reportedly star Mark Wahlberg. In a video news conference on Wednesday, Shyamalan, who was born in India but raised in suburban Philadelphia, said that he had approached Mumbai (Bombay)-based UTV to finance half the $57-million budget of the film "so that I can have ownership rights over the movie rather than just selling it to the studio." Ronnie Screwala, CEO of UTV, who agreed to participate in the venture, said, "It's going to be a huge budget, but it will be fantastic if there was an Indian connection on both sides." He said his company also partially financed Chris Rock's "I Think I Love My Wife." (But, as far as we can tell, Rock's latest is going to bomb. So, not a good sign.)
"Across The Universe Movie"
GALACTIC PREMIERE
March 15, 2007

"Across_The_Universe" Movie Trailer
As far as we know, Wild About Movies is the first medium in the world to report on Julie Taymor's, Columbia Pictures', Revolution Studios', "Across The Universe."
Our 18-year-old, very rich and hot Scottsdale, AZ., Horizon High School, soon-to-be graduate, correspondent, Scott, was invited to a TEST SCREENING of a movie not in theaters until September 28, 2007.
"I was invited to 'Across The Universe,' yesterday," said Scott, when he was in our office, today, on his way to pass out "BORAT" thongs. (Register to win, here). "And I had no interest in going to the screening (at the Harkins Cine-Capri). But my girlfriend ended up going to dinner with her two friends, ditching me. So, I called my friend Chad and we went to the movie, not knowing a fucking thing about it. Except that it was a movie with fucking "Beatles" songs. We thought the movie would be geared towards people our parents ages. We had no idea that everyone who starred in the movie was under 21 and fucking amazing, especially the dude who plays JUDE.
"After seeing 'Across The Universe,' I have to say, as does my friend Todd, the movie ("Across The Universe") is going to make "Hairspray" (coming out in July 2007) look like a musical that everyone has seen '300' times before."
We, Wild About Movies, think that "Hairspray: The Movie," may have an inch on "Across The Universe." But, if what Scott and Todd have to say, means a fucking thing, well... then..."Across The Universe" will be a fucking hit. ("Across The Universe" is in theaters September 28, 2007.)
Yes, we are also shocked that our hot interns got to see the movie 6+ months before its release. Long before we will see it and (perhaps) pan it!

Stephen Spielberg:
In Possession of Stolen Norman Rockwell Painting
March 5, 2007
A Norman Rockwell work stolen from suburban St. Louis more than three decades ago was found in Steven Spielberg’s art collection, the FBI announced Friday. The painting, Rockwell’s ”Russian Schoolroom,” was snatched during a late-night burglary at a gallery in Clayton, Mo., on June 25, 1973. The multi Oscar-winning filmmaker purchased the painting in 1989 from a legitimate dealer and didn’t know it was stolen until his staff spotted its image last week on an FBI Web site listing stolen works of art, the bureau said in a statement. The painting is valued at over $700,000. For more on another ongoing DREAMWORKS scandal...CLICK HERE
2007 Oscar Winner
Already Being Remade
March 2, 2007
2007 Best Foreign Language Oscar-winning German spy drama "The Lives of Others" is set to be remade as an English-language movie. The project would be developed by Bob and Harvey Weinstein at their newly formed The Weinstein Co., and filmmakers Sydney Pollack and Anthony Minghella. The big question is, which Oscar winning director will get behind the camera? Our money is on Minghella.
More Paramount Execs Fleeing Melrose Avenue.
February 28, 2007
Breaking News: According to insider reports from Paramount Pictures, VPs are leaving the company en masse, disgusted with the new Dreamworks coterie that have taken the studio hostage. A VP at Paramount Publicity, Susan Ciccone, will be leaving, and reportedly VP of Paramount National Publicity, David Waldman, has given his notice. VP Eric Kops recently left to start his own production company. The consensus may now be, bring back Robert Evans. And kick every Dreamworks person now at Paramount to the curb, since they are truly bringing the morale at Paramount to an all time low. More in tomorrow's trades. Of course, loyal WAM readers will remember a recent WAM BLOG revealing the incompetents from Dreamworks now at Paramount trying to sabotage the Free Advance Movie Screening program - yes, your opportunity to see Paramount movies for free before their release - something you have done for years. "Star Trek 11"
Christmas 2008
February 27, 2007
J.J. Abrams, the director responsible for the "Mission Impossible 3" bomb, (or was that Tom Cruise's fault?), has been signed to direct the 11th "Star Trek" film, due in theaters Christmas 2008. Will alien Baby Suri co-star? For more about "Star Trek 11" and to see an enhanced version of the poster... click here
First Time in History -
No Oscar Nominees In Top 10 @ Box Office
Weekend of Oscars!
February 26, 2007
For the first time in history, Oscar weekend did not contain a single Oscar nominated film in the Top 10 at the Box Office. Not one! Not even any of the Best Picture nominees, (of which three are already available on DVD). Regardless of which movie wins the Best Picture Oscar tonight, the prospect of it earning any additional amount of money at the movies is next to nil. This weekend Nicolas Cage retains the #1 spot at the box office, with "Ghost Rider," showing, once again, that America has no taste in movies. And to second that motion, we have Jim Carrey's dreadful "The Number 23," debuting at #2. (For the complete weekend Box Office round-up, click here.)

February 24, 2007
In conjunction with the launch of season six of ‘24’ on January 14, 2007, America was introduced to “The Rookie,” a series of short online films that follow the adventures of the newest member of CTU. The rookie is Jason Blaine, a character who stars in two different storylines, “Coffee Run” and “Get This To …” that will premiere in their entirety exclusively at www.CTUrookie.com. Additionally, each short film will be turned into a series of episodic national television commercials that end with a “24-esque” cliffhanger...
Dreamgirls: Zero Oscars?
February 22, 2007

"It's a complete disaster there. All the good publicists are leaving. I went there today but couldn't find anyone besides (anonymous) since there are international meetings they (domestic publicists) all have to attend." That, an email to Tim Nasson at WAM, from a senior VP from a competing movie studio, visiting Paramount yesterday, regarding the Paramount Pictures publicity domestic department, which has been hijacked by the Dreamworks staff. On another note, click on the above poster - a Dreamgirls spoof poster, featured on yesterday's Defamer.
Wild About Movies is prediciting, today, that "Dreamgirls" ends up with ZERO Oscars when all is sung and danced Sunday night. And don't get us started about the left-wing, nonsensical stories being written in newspapers and on blogs alike, alleging that if "Dreamgirls" doesn't win any Oscars it's because the Academy voters are prejudice! Please! The whole fucking point of the Oscars is to pick the BEST out of each nominated category -- and out of all categories for which "Dreamgirls" is nominated, including THREE BEST SONG OSCARS, none of the entries/entrants are the BEST in said categories. Especially Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson. Is anyone going to claim with a straight face, no pun intended, that the role Murphy plays in "Dreamgirls" is not an extension of his many drug addicted roles he played on SNL nearly 2 1/2 decades ago? Or that "American Idol" fat ass loser Jennifer Hudson, a first time Oscar nominee (without a chance of ever setting foot into the Kodak Theater again on any future Oscar night) is better than Judi Dench, or either of the Best Supporting Actresses nominted for "Babel?" As Oprah Winfrey's Sophia would say in her Oscar nominated, yet loser role in "The Color Purple," "Hells No."
We think that an investigation should be launched against all Oscar voters IF "Dreamgirls" wins even one award. Don't you dare forget, one of the best movies ever made, and nominated for 11 Oscars, "The Color Purple," won ZERO Oscars! Yes, the Africans did win that year, 1986, but not the blacks. The ones from "Out of Africa" - an all white movie filmed entirely in Africa!

The New Brady Bunch
Well On Their Way
February 21, 2007

Three-time New England Patriots Super Bowl Champ, twenty-nine year old Tom Brady, is ready to start his very own Bunch! And not with current gal pal, supermodel Gisele. According to reports from former (three year fling) Bridget Moynahan, Miss Moynahan is with Brady child. Three months pregnant to be exact. While we are sure that the Brady Sperm/Gisele Egg would have produced an even more beautiful human specimen, we are confident that the baby on the way will give baby alien, Suri Holmes-Cruise, a run for her money in the most sought after celeb baby photo category...
We don't chide Tom for dumping Moynahan, who is more than six years his senior, but come on Tom, just because she was almost old enough to go through the change, its apparent you should have at the very least - pulled out. How will having a bastard child appear on your previously untarnished, boy-next-door, choir boy reputation?
Vanity Fair
Too Cocky For Their Own Good
February 19, 2007
On a recent transcontinetal flight there was nothing better for me to do (in the interest of bringing you a great Blog piece) than flip every page of the current Vanity Fair magazine - and count the actual pages that had content.
The 5lbs+ March issue boasts the following cover: COLLECTOR'S EDITION. OUR BIGGEST ISSUE EVER!
Woop-dee-doo! Yes, it is the most cumbersome in memory to lug around, but that wouldn't have been a bad thing if, say, there were some great stories to read! Perhaps a 20,000 word book excerpt. A story from Sebastian Junger. Even a revealing interview with one of Hollywood's closet case stars, alleging that they are straight and happily married. Anything but what the magazine managed to do - namely, pull a fucking fast one.
Yes, the March 2007 Vanity Fair Magazine is 500 pages. Actually, it is many more pages than that if you include the nonsensical inserts ads, most of them booklet style.
One needs to get to page 200, yes, 200, before they find anything remotely editorial, (we're not including the masthead, letters and bullshit letter from the holier than thou Graydon Carter), FANFAIR.
It's not until page 228 that we find our first real story, James Wolcott's snore fest about Elia Kazan's "A Face In The Crowd." (That's four pages, interspersed with myriad full page ads.)
Then we get an unnecessary story about Jew hater Judith Regan, who finally, after years of thinking her shit didn't stink at her division of Harper Collins, she got shit canned to the curb. (Five pages.)
Dominick Dunne's Diary, usually one of the most entertaining pieces in the mag, is this time, the worst he has ever done. Yes, he is a pompous ass, but usually his writing is quite titilating. And we love it when it is. But this time, all he writes about, is himself, as usual, but about some horrible experience he endured when producing a Liz Taylor movie decades ago. Vomit time. (Three pages.)
The best piece in the March 2007 issue is the book excerpt from former Paramount head Robert Evans. But it is a measley (three pages.) Oy!
Another funny ditty, "My Lunch With Harvey," really takes you for a loop at the end, but, again, only (two pages.)
LETTERS FROM BROADWAY, about Kitty Carlisle, (three pages).
A waste of trees story about illegal movie downloads - in Sweeden - an unrelenting (seven tedious pages!)
SPOTLIGHT (One page)
The requisite WHITE HOUSE bashing story, (eight pages.)
The Brett Ratner kiss ass feature, (eight pages.)
TAKING ON GUANTANAMO an earth shattering (eleven pages.)
WASHINGTON'S $8 BILLION SHADOW, (ten pages.)
This really doesn't count, or maybe it does, a rehashing of the late Herb Ritts' Oscar winners photos, in between full page ads that we first thought were his pictures too - isn't that the whole point? When the ads and the content become one? (Twelve pages, we think).
The piece de resistance, KILLERS KILL, DEAD MEN DIE, (trust us, we can't believe any A-list stars sat for this photo op), (twenty nine pages).
DAY INTO NOIR, (eight pages.)
Pat Dollard's War on Hollywood. (Twenty pages, and probably twenty-thousand wasted trees.)
THE NAKED EYE (Six pages.)
A Sammy Davis Jr, semi-bio. (Eight pages, most of them photos.)
Add in about 15 pages of George Wayne, Vanities, And the Proust questionaire with Ellen Degeneres and what do you get for your 500 pages?
A grand total of... less than 165 pages of content, or more to the point, over 325 pages of ADS in an issue they claim to be a COLLECTOR'S EDITION and Their BIGGEST ISSUE EVER!
We're sure their advertisers are hoping that you'll be duped into thinking it really is something worth keeping, so that in ten years, when you're cleaning out your attic and the March 2007 issue falls on top of your head and lands open on page 339, you will run out and buy a bottle of PAMA, the new Pomegranate Liqueur. (The ad in last month's Vanity Fair had a scratch and sniff. You could have gotten drunk off the fumes. But PAMA obviously used up almost all of their limited budget and this month, in the COLLECTOR'S EDITION, all you get is a picture of the bottle.)
Bald Britney Spears
ABC Captured Photo Yesterday
February 17, 2007

It's been confirmed. Britney Spears is NOT in rehab. But, she is going the Sinead O'Connor route; bald. See the above photo, taken last night by ABC News.
Soon after reports that she had spent a day in rehab, Britney Spears was spotted in L.A. shaving her head and getting a tattoo.
Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, told ABC News that Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside. We just wonder if Spears has ever heard of a wig? They look great on Tina Turner and Beyonce!

Scarlett Johannson
Hasty Pudding Award Winner
February 16, 2007

Wild About Movies was one of, if not the only media outlet invited to OM Restaurant in Cambridge, MA yesterday afternoon after Scarlett Johannson picked up her Hasty Pudding Award at Harvard University.
Johannson became the fifty-second Hasty Pudding Award female recipient, following in the steps of cinema royalty such as Elizabeth Taylor, Meryl Streep, Liza Minnelli and Jodie Foster.
After parading through Harvard Square, Johannson settled down for a private VIP lunch at OM, (named one of the nation's Best Restaurants in Esquire Magazine - December 2006), and, yes, ladies, Johannson does eat. She raved about the pound cake and had no trouble finishing the piece in front of her for dessert - which was part of a four course prix fixe, created especially for Johannson by OM exec-chef Rachel Klein. (She ate nearly every bite of every course!) Good for Scarlett, a true starlett! (See Complete Prix Fixe Menu).
Above, Johannson at OM, with owners, Bik Yonjan (left) and Solomon Chowdhury.
Brad, Wenworth, Justin?

"Indiana Jones 4"
In Theaters Memorial Day 2008
February 6, 2007
Steven Spielberg, whom Wild About Movies interviewed two summers ago, before the release of his version of "War of the Worlds," starts shooting the fourth, and presumably final, installment of "Indiana Jones," starring Harrison Ford, in June 2007. Yesterday, Spielberg informed the world that "Indiana Jones 4" will hit theaters on Memorial Day 2008, nearly twenty years after "Indiana Jones 3," "Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade" was released.
Stay tuned to Wild About Movies for "Indiana Jones 4" updates, and of course, interviews with Spielberg, Harrison Ford, and the rest of the "Indiana Jones 4" cast, closer to the film's release date.
Martin Scorsese
Wins DGA Award
February 5, 2007
After a half dozen nominations, Martin Scorsese finally picked up the Director's Guild of America Award for directing "The Departed." The DGA is the usually the precursor to which director will win the Oscar. Out of 58 DGA ceremonies, 52 of the winners have gone on to claim the Best Director Oscar. Will Martin Scorsese be the 53rd out of 59th? Do stay tuned. As for the previous movies for which Martin Scorsese has been nominated for the Oscar and DGA; "Raging Bull," "The Last Temptation of Christ," "Goodfellas," "The Age of Innocence," "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator."
Dont Cha
Hottest Song On Big Screen
February 4, 2007
"Dont cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me. Dont cha wish your girlfriend was a freak like me." How many times have you heard that Pussycat Dolls song? Well, your ears must be ringing because it is appearing in a number of movies this spring. If you've seen the trailer of "Norbit," you canta missed "Dont Cha." When you see John Travolta's upoming "Wild Hogs" you'll presumably never see a funnier version perfomed; by a gay cowboy at a state fair.
Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe:
Nude In London's West End
February 2, 2007

Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, that is, has grown up. A series of publicity photos, which we reveal today, for the revival of the play "Equus" showing 17-year-old Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe nude has angered parents in England, where the play is to be performed beginning later this month. In several of the photos, Radcliffe is seen with co-star Joanna Christie, who also appears topless. They also appear nude in several scenes in the play.

The London Daily Mail quoted from letters written to Radcliffe's fan sites. "We as parents feel Daniel should not appear nude. Our nine-year-old son looks up to him as a role model. We are very disappointed and will avoid the future movies he makes," one parent wrote. (His younger fans generally expressed opposite opinions and Wild About Movies wonderd why even though a nine year old looks up to Harry/Radcliffe as a model, how he would even know of Radcliffe's nakedness onstage without his mother's big mouth. Said nine year old most certainly does not read newspapers or go to the theater on his own.)
A spokeswoman for Radcliffe said, "Daniel does not want to step away from "Harry Potter" but he does want to show he is a rounded actor capable of very different and diverse roles."
And from the photos, it appears that Daniel Radcliffe has been working out with a personal trainer for hours each day.
Does that mean that we are in for a treat in the final "Harry Potter" movie, not in theaters until 2010? Witnessing a sex scene between Harry and Hermione, perhaps? Or Harry and Malfoy? Or better yet, a threesome? For more revealing photos of Daniel Radcliffe, to watch the "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" movie trailer and for more on "Equus," CLICK HERE!

20th Century Fox, the studio that brought us Borat, brings us another outrageously offensive, yet genius screenplay. Wild About Movies saw the movie yesterday, and went into it thinking it would really suck! We had never seen the TV show because the commercials for it looked SO stupid. But, since we have to interview the cast of the movie, we forced ourselves to the screening. And from the opening scene in which producer Danny DeVito makes a cameo until the last, where Paul Rudd, who does a great Cuban drug dealer impression gets it, we couldn't stop laughing. Dakota Fanning RAPED On Screen in upcoming "HOUND DOG"
January 23, 2007
Without a doubt, the most controversial film heading to this month's Sundance Film Festival concerns the rape of a 12-year-old girl while Elvis Presley is heard singing in the background. In "Hound Dog," written and directed by Deborah Kampmeier, the character played by 13-year-old actress Dakota Fanning, who made her mark six years ago in "I Am Sam," is raped onscreen.
"Hound Dog" doesn't show the actual rape, but it's quite clear, from sources who've seen the film, that as scripted and directed, the scenes in question are going to cause one of the biggest uproars in cinematic history! With the 2007 Oscar nominations announced today, we wonder if Dakota Fanning will be a candidate for Best Actress next year for her performance in "Hound Dog." Do stay tuned....
Stomp The Yard - #1 Two Weeks In A Row!
January 22, 2007
Wild About Movies brings you the Top 35 movies of the weekend. And we can tell you that the only movies that were helped at the box office, courtesy of Golden Globe Awards, were "The Queen" and "The Last King Of Scotland." Incidentally, the Golden Globe winning screenwriter of "The Queen," also penned "The Last King Of Scotland."
Unfortunately, or fortunately, however you are biased, "Dreamgirls," the Best Picture winner (Comedy or Musical) at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards, didn't do much extra business, what with its win!
We are waiting, with baited breath, to see what movies are nominated for the 79th Academy Awards, Tuesday 23 January! We are hedging our bets that "Dreamgirls" will be deprived of Best Picture & Best Director nominations! And rightfully so, in our humble opinion!
"The Hitcher," which Focus Features thought would be the next "The Passion of the Christ" bombed in its first weekend in release, while the negro movie, "Stomp The Yard," surprised George Bush, et al, and retained its #1 spot for two weekends in a row - even without ONE marquee name star!
For the complete weekend box office round-up, click here!
Oh, and for you loyal, wonderful, law-abiding Chicago Wild About Movies lovers, we have a present for you. You get to see Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan's new movie, "Seraphim Falls," before it comes out. But no PDFs anymore for Chicago. For Chicago we will only be supplying hard copy tickets via snail mail and/or providing the theater with a guest list. Your valid photo ID will be checked against the list in the theater. Mamma Meryl
Meryl Streep to Star in "Mamma Mia: The Movie"
January 15, 2007
Golden Globe winner Meryl Streep (Best Actress 2007 Golden Globe Awards, "The Devil Wears Prada"), has signed on to star in the lead of "Mamma Mia: The Movie." So, Meryl Streep, the dancing queen. That's what you'll see on screen this coming Christmas and if all goes according to plans, Streep will earn her 15th Oscar nomination for that role at the 2008 Academy Awards, since she will obviously earn her 14th Oscar nomination for "The Devil Wears Prada." Nominations are live, right here at WildAboutMovies, Tuesday 23 January at 8:30AM EST.
Cybill Shepherd Gets Madonna's Cold Shoulder
January 12, 2007
If you missed yesterday's Today Show exclusive interview with Madonna, you missed great television. No, not the interview between Meredith Viera and Madge, who was on to promote her newest movie endeavor, "Arthur And The Invisibles," but the cold shoulder that Cybill Shepherd got from Madonna.
The segment ran more than 12 minutes, minus the commercial interruptions. And all that you need to watch is the last minute. Towards the end of the interview Meredith walks Madonna from the studio out onto the sidewalk, through the show's corridors. Among the many inside the building, another "Today Show" guest, Cybill Shepherd, who was on to tout her guest appearances on "The L-Word."
As Madonna rushes past her, we hear and see Cybill, yes a woman with many personalities, scream "Hi Madonna. It's Cy. Cybill Shepherd. Hi Madonna," and proceeds to run and grab Madonna, who turns around and says, "Oh! So nice to meet you" and pretty much turns away from a kiss that Shepherd tries to plant on her face, and keeps on walking...
We have the video, right here, for you. Click Here and fast forward to 11:08 (eleven minutes, eight seconds into the 12 minute, 14 second video footage) and see and hear for yourself. What we do know, is that Madonna is a very good friend of Rosie O'Donnell, whom she stood up for. Madonna does not think the Donald Trump/Rosie O'Donnell feud is fair.
Poor, poor Cybill Shepherd.
"Hairspray The Movie"
Edna Turnblad: Who Could Have Been!
January 11, 2007
Zac Efron is one of the stars of the upcoming Summer 2007 film "Hairspray The Movie." In fact, "Hairspray The Movie" is a remake of the Tony Winning Broadway play, which was a remake of the 1980s John Waters film of the same name.
What Wild About Movies brings you, today, is a quote from Tony Winner Mark O'Donnell, ("Hairspray"): "Tim: Your readers might be interested to know the studio (New Line) suggested Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks as Edna before the better idea of John Travolta came up."
We can't think of any way, even with the BEST Industrial Lights & Magic special effects, how Jack Nicholson could have ever been considered in a serious way as Edna Turnblad. Not only is Jack Nicholson short, he is not husky, as Divine, Bruce Villanch and Harvey Fierstein all were when portraying Edna on screen or on stage previously.

"Avatar" will be released on a new 3D system Cameron has developed for theaters. Filming of "Avatar" begins in the United States in April of 2007, with a budget of over $245 million.

"Hairspray The Movie"
Nicole Blonsky goes Nikki
January 4, 2007
Wild About Movies brings you the official "Hairspray The Movie" website and the unpublished fact that Nicole Blonsky is going the Edward Speleers route for her big screen debut.
You'll remember that Edward Speleers dropped the 'ward' from his first name, and that the opening credits of "Eragon" referred to the seventeen year old sex-symbol-in-the-making as Ed Speleers.
Nicole Blonsky's people must have suggested something in the same vein. (We'll get to the bottom of the name game when we interview her at the "Hairspray The Movie" junket in July of this year.) Suffice it to say, the name on her soon to be issued SAG card will read: Nikki Blonsky.
What's really odd, as of today, the official "Hairspray The Movie" website labels Blonsky neither as Nicole or Nikki. There is no mention of Blonsky's starring role in the film as Tracy Turnblad! It does list everyone else, however, including Queen Latifah, John Travolta (who plays Tracy's mother, Edna), Zac Efron, Michelle Pfieffer, Amanda Bynes, Allison Janney, Brittany Snow, and James Marsden.
You heard it here, first. It's going to be Nikki Blonsky, not Nicole Blonsky!

Kitty Kelley vs. Oprah
December 31, 2006
During her lit(t)erary career, Kitty Kelley has caused quite a few stirs, and has received hardly a purr from any on the receiving end of her poisonous pen. And Kitty has written unauthorized biographies of numerous A+ list famous people and/or families.
Kitty Kelley's first written invective was directed towards Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis. "Jackie Oh!" was an instant NY Times Best Seller. Everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Frank Sinatra to Nancy Reagan has since been ripped a new one by Kelley! And each of her books have done brisk business - since everyone loves gossip, even if it doesn't have a hint of truth to it? (Do you actually believe Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are a happily married, and sexually satisfied couple. And that Baby Suri is actually has any Tom Cruise DNA in her?)
The first time Wild About Movies publisher Tim Nasson sat with Kitty Kelley was before the release of Kelley's "The Royals," which took on, well, The Royal Family. Nasson again sat with Kelly in September of 2004, just before the release of "The Family," a scathing, yet "brutally honest" (according to Kelley) peek into the lives of the Bush dynasty.
Next up for Kelly? She tackles Oprah Winfrey. And she exclusively tells Tim Nasson, "I see Oprah Winfrey as probably the most powerful woman in our society. She has influenced every medium that she's touched. She personifies the American dreama and as such I see this biography as a book of hope and promise and success.... I think those are the virtues Oprah believes in and preaches and encourages her audiences to practice. Everyone has a different 'take' on this marvelously complicated woman so if you know anyone who's known her or worked with her, I'd love to hear from them."
There you have it, or do you? If you do have anything on Oprah - good, bad or ugly - e-mail Tim Nasson and if the gossip sounds like it has even a hint of truth to it, he will forward it to Kelley, who just may be calling you!
